I'm a ginger with a Spanish last name.
I have a standing offer of $10 for anyone with an original joke about Marines, red heads or a Spanish Irish mix that I have not heard and is actually funny.
"That I have not heard AND is actually funny. "You threw out the challenge and that is a joke I heard about 1970ish when I lived in NY. The other version was WOP for Italian and Latino.
Growing up there nothing was off limits like today and every nationality played and laughed together unlike todays society.
White, black, Puerto Rican, Polack, French, you name it we played and hung out and busted balls and no one cried.
That’s not Rickets, that Kwashiorkor.What... People don't think that White Privlege includes having Ricketts and Dropsy?
They have slave feet, too!

LOL, so true! You didn't mention the required blood sacrifice.
My mom raised four of us kids in 1963 in Louisiana after leaving my abusive dad ,no child support or snap ebt or welfare, never realized we were poor ,but one Thanksgiving morning there was a knock on the door when I went to see who it was there was a cardboard box on the porch and a car driving away , there was groceries in the box for Thanksgiving dinner, I seen tears in my mom's eyes , so I can relate to Merles song ,mama's hungry eyes. How many people in this country today have experienced the pure poverty and hungry these children lived?
If possible it would be something to hear their stories and how their lives went.
Exactly, what's the use of having an imune system , if you don't use it every once in a while.Betting this guy doesnt get sick much.

Glad you successfully came out on the other side of that, sir. Peace be with you.I spent a few years as a "ward of the state of Pennsylvania" in a Catholic orphanage, back when PA allowed religious organizations to receive state funding to intercede on children's behalf. We didn't have a lot in the orphanage, but we had enough food and clothing, and a safe place to sleep. I never faced the level of poverty some have, but I lived the "knock at the door and food box" thing when my mom was trying to get us back and had us only on the weekends.
I was in the military in some form (Active, Reserve and then Guard) from Nov 1976 - July 2018. When people would ask me why, I told them I was providing top cover for the nuns at the orphanage. And the lady with the food box. I'd deal with the despots and dictators if they watched over the kids. Some debts can never really be repaid. Every day in the suck was worth it.
Most people I know who complain about being poor don't know from poor. We were "resource limited" but I had my brother and sisters, so I have always counted myself rich beyond measure.
