I just gave up a GS-14 position in the beltway and moved far, far into the country - where I make nothing, see nothing, and hear nothing, and am 100% happier.
Kids pray at lunch at schools, they fly the Christian flags, and we don't observe MLK day. I should probably shut up now before I get "followers" too.

Oldest child is an adult moved on their own 2 years ago. Youngest is homeschooled; we never had this problem with the older kids - as soon as the school starts- we get every traveling sales men , blasted with spam and phone calls - everything from text book sellers to Bible/ religious books , computers, co- ops , camps , field trips , kids sports groups in home tutors science equipment musical instruments and art supplies- sometimes dozens a day.
Very odd because we buy our homeschooling supplies from an actual physical location and we buy there because they do not sell data on customers. Mainly because they have none - brick and mortar pay cash .

"Following" people is probably a generational thing. I, like you, think it's fucking weird. The kids think nothing of it. They also have all the notifications turned on on their phones. That would drive me bat shit crazy. The ONLY notification I have turned on is Ring. Fucking wierd to get a notification when someone you "follow" types something.
