Any Desert Tech HTI 50 BMG Owners?

I wont be posting my M82a1 groups against those, thats for sure.

Only 2moa claimed by the manufacturer, I have a couple of loads that get closer to 1.5" @100yds but overall its not a gun for accuracy.

Ive tried 3x types of primers, 5x types of powder, 4x types of brass, and way too many projectiles from m33 ball to 800gr Solids.

Try Thunder Ammo, Randy Powell has some 740 & 770 grain solids that mine likes. I think he uses RL50 for most of his ammo.

I had a TAC-50

Too long, recoil is a bitch and shit would rattle loose all the time (the stock, the bolt release, the action screws). That was before CADEX but now the price is insane too

Pass
I heard something about stuff coming loose on the TAC-50 pre-Cadex chassis. Leaning towards the Tremor - Bartlein, DLC bolt and several inches shorter than HTI when folded(42.4 vs 45.75") with similar weight at 22.3 vs 20 lbs(seemingly softer recoil). If I get my hands on one, I'll post some groups once dialed in.

@wooferocau Just got an HTI 50, what bipod do u have? I have shot an AI 50 off a tripod, the back leg was fully extended and you could shoot in the prone position. It hardly kicked at all as the back leg extended took the brunt of the recoil, it had a brake, but I am not sure what kind. Going to try to find pics. Actually shot a setup done by Bryan Morgan, the 2014 PRS champ.. was on a Cabelas Experience with Nightforce in 2018. You can find video of my wife shooting the AX50 on youtube under user sorleski .. you might be able to see the leg of the tripod extended backwards.. I also got a T6, having a gunsmith fit to barrel and then drill some ports in the top. Will post pics when all done.

I use the Terminator T6 on my 50.....but I also shoot with blast Shields..
Had an old friend out yesterday actually to shoot the 50....

He still is...
1 Mile ...plate is 16"...

Ok wow on the Bipod, that's neat.. and looks very sturdy. I noticed some pics you posted earlier where you didn't use a blast shield. Is the blast that bad even with the T6 on it? Given the shortness of the rifle, it is definitely a concern. I am actually wondering of a gunsmith could well on little blast shields right onto the back of the muzzle brake once he has it fitted properly, maybe a 1-1.5 inch flange that would/could be welded onto the back of the T6. Not sure how much of a difference it would make. I have also thought of creating some blast plates that would attach where you have your weights attached to your rifle, the plates would act as weight and blast shield and would fold forward for carrying/transport.

Any recommendation on a bipod. Elite Iron?

Without blast shields the T6 does a very good job of mitigating recoil ...the back blast is not terrible, but it is still quite substantial.
I suffer from severe Tinnitus ....so anything i can do to offset its effects prolongs my time shooting..

Some time ago i did a session with the 50 in "Naked " form ....i fired circa 80 rounds that day...well the next couple of days i suffered from severe vertigo and nausea..... the concussive effect on me was substantial !!
With the blast shields i can do extended sessions with the 50 without ANY effects whatsoever ....it might look extreme but it makes it such a pleasure to use..
Just a few weeks back i had a young 12yr old girl fire 20 odd rounds of the 50 at extended range....no drams at all. The young lass will progress into quite a shooter judging from her efforts !!

Bipods...
I have owned just about every option........ALL suffer form excessive "Slop" IMO !!
I used an F.Class derivative Bipod at one point and the difference was huge ...so i designed and built the example in the pics...it doesn't look "tactical" ....but it is 100& stable....the Atlas Super Cal i had feels like a spindly . wobbly piece of crap in comparison..
