Suppressors Suppressed Contenders anyone

I'm trying to picture how you grip it with that folding stock, but it does look like a fun time.

What kind of can do you use with it? I'm half hoping it's some sort of tack-welded contraption of iron pipe and freeze plugs. :D
Right now, I roll my thumb over the pivot tube for the folding stock. It’s not a terrible firing position. The plan is to fabricate a pistol grip for it, just haven’t got that far.

The suppressor I currently use is a commercial made sub gun suppressor. I had/have planned to form 1 which may still be in the plan, or I may scrap this barrel and try to get an integrally suppressed setup.

Update for you if interested. Made a pistol grip mounting block and used a bakelite ak grip

The toughest part is probably getting the barrel out so it can go in a lathe. No fun getting the barrels out of most lever guns. And getting them back 'straight.'

Suppressed Lever guns are beyond cool!

How about an old 94 with Maxim?

I've got a marlin 30-30 i just picked up that I'm going to thread.

What do you think about turning a mandrel to run up in the receiver in place of the bolt and using a live center at the muzzle ?

I’d talk to a local machinist. A good one!

It’s a fixturing problem for sure.

If I were doing it, I’d strip the gun and see if the barrel is long enough to go through the headstock into a collet. Failing that, remove barrel from action. Failing that, secure the action in a four-jaw chuck and spend a lot of time centering it…run muzzle in a live center to thread.
If it’s long enough, a steady rest might be needed.

There are a bunch of ways to potentially thread. But will take the right equipment and someone go knows what they are doing!!

Not sure how hard it is to remove the barrel from a Marlin lever… but the time invested there is. LOT of time potentially saved in fixturing!

Unfortunately, my headstock is long. Around 20"
I'll probably end up pulling it from the action.

I had the same sort of problem with the contender… the latching block makes using the headstock impossible. So it was four jaw chuck and hours with an indicator or make a center!

Door number two was the best option!

I have often wanted a 22lr or 300bo threaded contender barrel for back yard plinking. Sounds like the best option is to purchase a barrel that is already threaded (vs. trying to find someone to thread m existing 22lr barrel).

Ditto a 22 hornet with a fast twist barrel and chambered to shoot 77gr HPBT bullets at subsonic speeds. That's always been a dream of mine.

Since the guy in Dallas passed, this is suppose to be the "go to" for Contender threading.

I have not used him but am looking to send my .357 Mag to him. Dallas guy was cheaper and his work was great.

If you have an MGM barrel, they will cut and/or thread it but NOT other companies' barrels.
