Apparently they were correct when they decided to kick him out.
Latest word I have from a grad is that it was a hoax/accident. Dude who was kicked out sent a message saying he was gonna shoot up the place with a spoofed ip address that made it look like he was on campus. Apparently an amped-up midshipman clubbed a real cop with his parade rifle because he thought it was the (fake) shooter, and the cop shot the midshipman in self defense.
What a clusterfuck.
Not official obviously, this whole story I was given could be wrong; no real info out there that I can find.

The victim here is distant family. This is from his father:
We got a text from him that there was an active shooter on his floor. He also sent a bunch of screenshots and info coming from leadership at the academy, stating to shelter in place and dont let anyone in your room, as the shooter was disguised as military police. We called him and were on the phone with him the whole time. We heard people running by his room with guns multiple times, yelling out f bombs. He had barricaded his door already. Then he heard them coming back, and they stopped at his room, realized it was barricaded and kicked his door down. Drew said “I’m fucked. He’s coming in. I love you!”
We heard the whole scuffle. Drew bashed the guy coming in with his training rifle. Then the shot. He then dropped and others came in the room asking if he was shot and began rendering aid. It was an MP kicking his door down. Never yelled in the room or anything. Just yelled “it’s fucking barricaded” and started coming in.
Drew was airlifted to Baltimore for medical attention and is stable and in good spirits. He acted heroically, and we are beyond proud. We wasn’t going to go down without a fight. That said, what a shit show of misinformation and mishandling of a situation that almost cost our son his life. More to follow in coming days. I just wanted to let you all know that he is ok, and we are grateful for your love and support. Thank you.
