I was (am) very against a green dot.

Then I had a look into a Vortex the other day, and I think it would probably take me a few shots before I got it.
The Vortex dot surprised me. Red dots usually sparkle a little, depending on which one, in my eyes.
But the green one was really sharp.

Had a PCC competition recently (nationals) where we hade papers at 50-70 meter up in the shadows and trees, and the red dot felt really difficult. Still managed to get top 8 and 2nd overall so shouldn't complain, but green may be the future for me.

Green vs red, I've tried both and presently use both. Anyone shopping for a new RDS should check out green and red alike. Everyone's color sensitivity is different, and some people see the green better even if red was first in line and the de facto standard for a long time. Some people see less "bloom" with one color vs the other, when you turn up the brightness.

I find red easier because many more hours with red, but my eyes "like" the green better. Green has washed out for me in some weird rare situations, glossy leaves reflecting sun at just the right angle. Red can wash out against red lights in night/twilight/dawn settings.

There's a good YT video by Delta34 on choosing reticles for ACOG, he talks about amber red and green and their differences.

As to Trijicon, hell they sure aren't the industry frontrunner on tech implementation. Sorta like Aimpoint but even more change-resistant.

I have astigmatisms, both red & green look like grape clusters.

Several years ago, I saw a blue dot at an NRA convention. USO iirc, but not sure about that. It was nice & sharp, but I didn't buy one. I got a cheap one off of eBay a couple years ago, and it was the same cluster.

I wish USO or whoever it was would bring theirs back.

I also have issues with red dots. They look like stars with streaks to me. I have a green Holosun 503 that doesn't do it nearly as bad and is actually useable.

The Holosun AEMs doesn't bother me and I think a couple of the SIGs don't. The best though was EOTech. The holographic doesn't bleed to my eyes.

Aimpoint PRO was by far the worst. I had to return it. Just a supernova instead of a dot. Was super disappointing. A $20 Field Dot from Amazon was crisp as hell compared to the PRO lol.
