Feasible to rebarrel?

I have an Ern prefit or 2

One is my best shooting barrel.

The other consistently in the mid .3s (as much me with a larger cartridge as anything)

I would buy his barrels 100 times before dealing with a shop only to be hearing that its “the bullets” when 3 top end bullet makers bullets arent shooting well in a barrel…. (Guess who that is?)
Bro

Do you even shoot?

Never trust a smith who would do a profit for a Tikka. It's a sign of incompetence. The headspace variance is just too great. We have seen over the years about .011-.012 spread.
I’ve personally measured dozens of Tikka’s, literally the same headspace number every single time. I’ve personally cut hundreds of Tikka shouldered prefits…. Only one to come back…. A “trued” Tikka reciever face from a kitchen table smith. You must be catching all of that guys work. If it factory it’s good.

I didn’t know that was a thing, I thought rem700 had to be measured for a shoulder or go with a barrel nut?
Exactly, you DO need to take a measurement on the receiver and recoil lug. That is my point, the barrel maker literally just took a shot in the dark (educated guess maybe) at the measurement and made it within the .004 range of min/max. This would not be the preferred method of operation.........hahaha

There is consistency in mass production, just not something I am willing to put my reputation and liability insurance up against.

You think Lake City measures every 5.56 round for seating depth, powder charge, etc.? I interviewed there back when it was ATK and they were running 2.7 million rounds of 5.56 per shift.............Just sayin'

I don’t know you from Adam so I won’t argue your point especially since I don’t necessarily disagree with it. Post 36 says everything…. Caring > $$ you’re clearly a real one. I’m just a guy stating my experience for the benefit of the community.

Don't hold back on my account, I actually want to hear your experience. In full transparency I feel I don't do enough Tikkas to really get a large enough sample to make a definitive statement.........so I err on the side of handfit.

I hope I never discourage anyone from posting on here.........that's never my intent. Sometimes I might come off as a hard stance dickhead, this mainly comes out when I hear another hard stance dickhead who is just plain wrong and needs called out. Most of what I post is not a right/wrong thing it's more my experience that may or may not apply to others. I figure I should post my info and let others throw it in the trash if it needs to be.

Certainly not holding back just don’t feel the need to advance, I said what I said. Nor am I discouraged, arguing on forums about trivial things… I’ll leave that to y’all….arguing with the boys over bourbon and cigars = game on. I speak dichhead fluently and either don’t know your dialect or you weren’t asserting it. Either way I say Tikkas are gtg for prefits while still respecting your point of view.

I wouldn't shoot his shit if you paid me. In actual person shooting community I have had and heard more bad experiences with his products that just about all others combined. Many are on this site as well they just don't talk about it. One of them is sitting at 300 points right now nationally and chamberes barrels winning top 3 at worlds. I got burned twice by them and always get a crack when people sing their praises on here. They are one of the bigger local shops with cheaper prices than most yet almost no one shoots their shit. I know of one local guy who is a good shooter running their stuff but he also shoots a burris so clearly it's the Indian not the arrow.

It's shit like this that keeps most of the higher end competent shooters from participating here. They don't got time to argue with ignorant people who lack experience. They just use the EE to sell stuff they win every weekend. Instead they have to argue with people like you living in fantasy world.
“When people tell you who they are… believe them”
