Cans On Glock

I"ve never shot a handgun with a can till today. I have a couple of questions. I bought a SWR Trident, hoping to use it on my MP5. I got the wrong mount, the LCD. So I thought I would give it a try on a G17 with a Lone Wolf threaded barrel.

It was my impression that the LCD, a Nielsen device, was intended to allow the weapon to cycle normally. The Glock is crazy quiet with the Trident, but it does not cycle using sub sonic ammo. I also have a YHM Cobra 2 which I bought intending to use it on the Glock, same story....and BTW the Trident is noticeably quieter. Thanks guys.

I believe glocks are kinda notorious for not wanting to run suppressed. But part of that I think is that the suppressors people are trying to use are to heavy. Have you weighed the two cans to see what they weigh? I think the way to overcome this issue is to order a lighter recoil spring for the glock.

The subject line on this thread reads like “Girls On Film.”

But all we have here is pistols and suppressors. Dang. 😢

My G19x runs ok with the short version of the Rugged Obsidian. My CZ P-01 ran better. My P229 might run best of all three with that can, but it’s too early to tell.

Strange, zero issues with a G195 and G45 with Obsidians, full can, 147 subs, light 115, 124 grain. Good thing I have a couple subs to run them on-ever seen a retard with a potato stick? Live and learn.

Is the issue with suppressors specific to glocks or is it similar with other polymer frame pistols? I have a Canik Rival and I’m considering getting a suppressor for it.

I don’t know, but I believe that for pistols, the lighter the suppressor the better the chance of the gun functioning the best.

I own a Rugged Obsidian 9. It has an aluminum tube, and this one cannot use CLR to clean it. If I had to do it over I’d probably get a Fly9 or Ecco Canine, both of which are made of CLR-proof titanium. In fact, TBAC will clean your can free once a year.

Pop out the baffles and soak away with CLR, The tube cleans easily with Hoppes, etc. Oh and don't put the adapter themselves in there!

Thanks for this feedback. The rugged and fly 9 were both considerations. I’m a big fan of TBAC so this may have tilted me that direction.

The issue is if you cannot get the baffles out. Or unscrew the end cap.

With my Banish cans, many days of CLR were the ticket to (sometimes) open the can. When that didn’t work, then diesel and acetone 50/50 mix did the trick.

That’s why no more aluminum anything in suppressors for me!

Never an issue there either, with or without high temp nickel anti seize.

Yeah, I haven’t yet had to clean the Obsidian, so perhaps 9mm doesn’t lay down whatever evil sticky deposits centerfire rifle does. Didn’t matter what type of anti-seize I used on the Banish…even the nickel anti-seize…resulted in a lockup. I’ll see, I guess.
