I recently purchased a blemished CZ 457 Precision .22LR from Kygunco, and I plan to use it primarily for benchrest shooting. My favorite distance for shooting .22 rifles is 100 yards, and I’m considering trying out some competitions, though I’m not sure what category I’d fit into with this rifle.
I also have a couple of 10/22s that I regularly shoot at 100 yards.

Now, I need some advice on a scope for the new rifle. I’m torn between the Burris Xtreme Tactical XTR II F-Class Rifle Scope 8x40 50mm and the Ares ETR Gen2 UHD 15-60x56 ABLR3 SFP IR MOA Reticle. Does anyone have experience with these, or is there another option under $900 you’d recommend?

I also have a 6.5 Creedmoor Howa Bolt Action with a Bushnell MatchPro 5x30, and a .223 semi-auto with a 24-inch barrel and an Arken Optics SH-4 6x24. I could swap one of those scopes for the new CZ and put the new one on either the .223 or the 6.5. I really enjoy long-range shooting and am currently hitting targets at 500 yards (not really long range) with the 6.5, with plans to stretch it to 1000 yards eventually.

What do you think is the best approach here?

Not even sure this is the right forum to post this in. Mods please move if incorrect.

Under $1000, I like my Vortex PST Gen 2 5x25 MRAD reticle. Having to loosen 3 set screws to zero turret is the only thing I don't like about them. 15x to 18x is great for shooting, and then zoom in to 25x or so to see hits. I avoid 'made in chyna' whenever possible.

You may want to try the DNT The One. It’s under your budget. I have one and like it. Or you ca get a Burris II 5-25, it’s also dropped in price since it first came out. I have a couple and for the price it’s good.

Just make sure the parallax goes down low enough. I had an LRTSi on my 457 and had issues shooting closer than 50 yards. You will eventually shoot closer than 50 I’m sure.

I'd second that, for any of the PRS 22 matches targets can be closer than 50 and out to 250. Anything close will be small KYL racks and the like, so will need something that can focus well at the various ranges.

It's funny that people often think "it's just a 22, I don't need to put as much money in to the glass as I would for a centerfire rifle"

But those 22 holes are hard to see, misses to call for corrections are hard to see. Targets in competition range from 25 yards to 2-300 yards.

For me, I have the same Vortex Razor Gen 3 on my rimfire as I have on my centerfire.

Main reason I swapped glass, 35 yards and in, trying to hold with a fuzzy view just didn’t cut it
