I finally had a chance to push it to 1000, I verified at 500 and 600 and everything was looking very good.
I wish the groups looked a little better but humbled, I had impacts on my first volley and before it got dark this was my next two group attempts. The wind to no wind at 3:00 made it interesting with 2.25 mils of spin drift when it got calm and then a breeze
6 mph to calm at 3:00

99.1 mils of vertical
Max ordinance 103’
22 LR with Lapua center x

.22 rimfire? WOW! 1000yds is crazy for that velocity. I just got to try 1000yds at California Tactical Academy two weekends ago. 29.7moa and 2 moa of wind/drift hold on a 6.5 Creedmoor but that sending 142 grains at 2700 on what looked to be a 40" target (4 moa wide). Rimfire can't be easy.

How do you spot?
If asking about seeing any impacts on the target, either driving up and looking or using the Long Shot LR3 camera. Other then that with the grass and weeds seeing splash on a miss is almost impossible unless you can get out on a freshly planted or worked up agricultural field and see a dust splash here in Wisconsin.

How do you make a correction if you aren’t on plate?

How do you make a correction if you aren’t on plate?

In the case of the RnD test above I verified at 500 and 600 and was impacting well and decided to head to 1000 because of conditions and availability of day light left. I was humbled to have impacts on first attempt.

In other cases
Having extra spotters to watch for impacts or pucks, dust or whatever to help in corrections.
Down range camera systems like Long Shot to help seeing target and close misses.

When they fail and you can’t see the miss, in which the little 22LR hitting weeds and grass can be a challenge
Then it is was it is
I seen a bunch of shooters this last weekend shooting (centerfires) that their teammates were responding after the shot - no call, nothing , dang I have nothing? This happens a lot and they were shooting at 56 different targets sets that ran from 274 yards to 1303 yards.
Heck if I enter in my 416 Warner and try to get a perspective of the challenge, 99.1 mils puts me a zone of 4814 yards for the challenge I know my shooting partner said his 375 was in the 4000s as well.
And how many times at Raton NM, Kansas, Virginia and South Dakota did I hear - No call, sorry I have nothing

So most shooters when that call happens, start to fish or move around the target most of the time they check left and right to see if the wind was more or less then figured. Next if they trust their gun and program usually they dig deep or down to either catch splash or see if they were shooting prior just over the top of the target.

So anyways - there were many ways a person could take your question and I hope this made sense

Taylorbok, I thought you shot some distance with centerfires

Remember this was just a RnD project and gathering data for the program nothing more , but it was good fun as well!

Yes I do, and I know the difficulties of spotting splash even with a 375 let alone the 22LR.

There was actually a King of .22 Mile here last year and once we got out to 650 ish it was so hard to catch anything if it didn't hit the plate, could have used some more ground prep for sure.

I didn't realize this was you're first attempt and you managed to get on plate first go.
