So I just started PRS a couple of months ago. I was fixated on how people went from stage to stage collecting their data during pre stage. I was also fascinated with their setups. A couple weeks ago I decided to put together my own spotting setup. Looking at what everyone has I noticed that some people had ready made tac tables and some had home made or 3d printed ones. I had some experience building camera rigs and decided I can use some parts like a cheese plate to build the platform. Now this is just the first iteration and since its modular I can add or subtract parts as I go. I can also do a sliding plate underneath the main platform in case I need more room or If I decided to add a spotting scope. I also 3d Printed a weather vane for the kestrel If I decided to get live wind data. But for now I see myself using the windicator just to see where the wind is blowing. if there are any ideas as to what else I should add or what would be more practical, I'm all ears. Afterall, you guys are the experts. i just love to tinker.

I like that wind flag! Nice colors. A little whimsy never hurt anyone.

On your first pic, what’s that rollerblade-looking wheel on the left side?

Here are some ideas I have collected over the years.

This last one is my pdog spotter + digiscope/digicam/phonecam setup (so many words for the same thing). The red lines indicate where the phone usually is…I was using it to take the pic.

I “slave” the 15x LRF Leica binos to where the spotter is pointed at about 300yds. That way the spotter just finds the pdog in the binos and the scene is already largely already framed up for the phonecam.

If you get into phone cams, I wrote up something in 2023 about that. I like the Olin system, but there’s a few new ones out there. For me, the Olin is good enough and the only downsides are no flashlight or wide angle or zoom access. If I need those (rare), I just pop the case off.

Also, kinda neat:

And a little whimsy back at ya
