The new 2026 NRL22 rules are out. The MSRP limit for the Base Division has been increased to $1650 USD.

I’ve gotten a few questions about gear selection, so I put together a simple list to help. I’m sure I’ve missed a few options. If you have any other recommendations, feel free to drop them in the comments and I’ll add them to the list.

Best way to use it: go to “File” → “Make a Copy” to save it to your own Google Drive so the checkboxes and formulas will work, or download it as an Excel file.

Hopefully this helps new shooters pick their first Production or Base Class rig.

How do you check MSRP for the date the rules came out? Several of the CZ prices have gone up according to their site. Just want to make sure I stay within the regulations.

Also, do you know if you can change out the extractors to the DP Gunworks Talon extractors? I don’t see anything in the rules that would prohibit so thought I’d ask.

Weird question. I noticed the MSRP listed here for VARMINT MTR does not match up with the MSRP available in Canada. For the VARMINT MTR in 16.5" ($1069.99CDN/$775USD) for instance, there is a discount from the 20" barrel ($1199CDN/$870USD), which brings its MSRP to below $800. When attempting to couple this with a MATCH PRO ED 5. I calculate being within the PRS Production Class limits.

My question is, with a MATCH PRO and VARMINT MTR 16.5, is it currently acceptable for the production class? It seemed to have won last year's championships with this setup, and I think that was with a 20.5".

Looking at building a production class rifle for my wife, and this is the final piece of the puzzle. Ideally I want to build her the 20.5" with MATCH PRO ED5 but I'm a little confused.

Thank you for your help community :)

The MSRP is the MSRP. There is no changing or discounting it on your part. They have a reference list and you have to meet it.

It goes off of whatever the prices were in Sept (?) every year. Also, the rules have a few percentage points added in for inflation so the base prices will also increase every year.

On this front, to clarify - if I have a discontinued model rifle that had a MSRP way back when of $899, they will inflate prices to current price (vs last time it was sold), so I cant assume 1650 - 899 as my scope budget, but rather the inflation adjusted value of the rifle is ued - correct?

Per page 14 of the current PRS rimfire rules (can find it on their website) for any discontinued rifles or scopes that had previously met the criteria before, they can still be used and there will be a 2% compounding interest over the MSRP from when it was initialy purchased. It's up to the shooter to have proof of the numbers if asked by any Match Director. Not an unreasonable work around for old models at old prices.

If it were me, I'd reach out to the MD and let them know what you've got and what you're pricing it at beforehand and they should be able to tell you their thoughts on it.
