I have been supporting the Army for 33 years now in and out of uniform and never heard anythnig like this. So refreshing to get back to the business of Warfighting.

But we’re not…
Our military used to be led by philosophers who led mentally and physically fit men into combat from the front through both example and deed. Over the past 100 years, the move to a “great society” has bankrupted our country morally and literally, and destroyed her self image...along with the military’s ability to put forward forces who understand what their role is, and more importantly what it is not.
Our military leaders have turned into DEI hire politicians, and we struggle to find recruits who can pass a PT test, let alone have the mental or moral acumen to understand the difference between a lawful and unlawful order. Even worse, civilian oversight became a bunch of leftists/statists who saw the military as a place to experiment with social policy.
I see this as the first step in cutting out the rot, and resetting expectations of behavior while simultaneously showing them they are free of those shackles.
I’m not so naive as to think there’s not some measure of worship of the MIC buried somewhere under all those inspiring words, but we’re at least acknowledging the problem(s) and taking steps to reverse the decline.

The Armed forces have never been fully apolitical. Officers are appointed by presidents and approved by Congress. All the way back to the revolutionary war, everything has been about politics from getting a commission to becoming a general to getting appointed to the head of what army. Just look at the machinations during the Civil War that led to slaughter as hundreds of incompetent majors, generals, and Colonels were put in charge of regiments and divisions and armies because they were political. Or because they could buy a colonelsy. There is nothing ever been completely apolitical about the American Officer Corps.
Further, Most of the classes that go into the service academies are appointed by highly- political congressman and senators. The Number, who are there on total merit are infinitesimal. You don’t think that Bernie and AOC are appointing the best war fighters to go to Annapolis and West Point, do you? They are appointing political hacks from reliable socialist families who are specifically there to undermine the military.
The military is supposed to be apolitical. And should be.
However, beginning in 2009 there was an absolute move to litmus tests for officers for promotion and billets. And those litmus tests were all built around the concept of fundamentally changing America. Got worse under Biden.
So this cutting of the rot is overdue and welcome. And hopefully will result in a force that is focused on war fighting, not offering a path to having your junk cut off and being trained to round up weapons from American civilians if so ordered.

That is indicative of a total rotten military structure. Where it’s all chiefs and no Indians. And the Indians are merely there for the wrong reasons.
So the left will whine and scream and complain that it’s a purge. They’ll call out Nazi slogans and say it’s the night of the long knives. But guess what not one of them is gonna get shot. They’re all gonna get their fucking pensions. Their families won’t be rounded up and sent to count trees in SIberia. They’re mostly gonna go to work for the military industrial complex or write books saying how important they were. And what we will get is a cheaper leaner more focused military.
This is long overdue.
