And folks think that they never did any other similar plans later on to justify wars and invasions???
Oh and folks don't think they might do them again soon the moment "we need to be persuaded" to go all in on another jingoistic war?
Kennedy‘s CIA, which was really Eisenhower CIA, was actually completely out of control under Allan Dulles.
Eisenhower was enamored with intelligence and special operations because of the massive effect it had had on the success of the D-Day landings and the execution of World War II. He also was big on soft power, rather than having the military involved in everything use the old SOE model of sticking a dagger in someone’s back, not bombing them into the Stone Age.
The post Bay of Pigs agency, and the one that emerged from Stansfield Turner in the 1970s is nothing at all like what was going on back then.
Good luck finding someone to change brands of coffee in the canteen with a signature.
Not saying nefarious stuff can’t or doesn’t happen. But it isn’t Jason Bourne under any stretch of the imagination.
Think more along the lines of the executives at Ford motor company, trying to make an inexpensive, compact car and coming up with the Edsel because everyone needed a vote.

If anything, they have gotten worse, but much, much better at hiding it, or providing the sheep with a better cover/backstory.

I would argue that no effort at all is being made nowadays to hide the true intentions of our overseas jaunts.

Even some FBI agents were admitting that the WTC bombing of 1993 did not result in enough horrific deaths to sway public opinion on pro-active action in the ME. Just because we went to war in the middle east doesn't mean we were up against innocent and loving people. They torture and kill girls for going to school.

one of the least known examples of false flag manipulation to get the US into a war. set a template for Pearl Harbor,Tonkin,9/11,WMDs. now days they have quite bothering. just start bombing and prep the troops. there is still a hesitation on openly sending troops. there are enough people around now that get it. bombing is easy and risk free it is believed. actually expensive and very risky with all the nuc owning countries around. public's short attention span and normal busy lives help. can use CIA,contractors and "volunteers" to keep our real invovement quieter.
this is right. but if we avoid that part of the world (and we could if we wanted to),bought oil from whomever then we cold avoid all of it's problems. we didn't get the memo during the '72 embargo. buy sell only there. protect our legit biz,no exporting democracy at gun point. we also really need to keep them out and remove all of the ones here.
of course if we did that we couldn't spend billions on our "special ally". just think how congressional income and net worth would drop if that happened.
