Watching the video of the senators lay out the fear of a government shutdown. Grandma won't get her meds, children won't get fed and on and on. No one has asked how did government get so intertwined in the lives of the people?
I say shut it down. Send them home and let the people get back to being self sufficient. We can live just fine without 90% of government.

Stop me if I’ve told this before. My team and a team of Recondos were on top of Bach Ma, We were supposed to run patrols down of the top, to prepare for an insertion of both Battalions (506 and 1/327). Turned to shit right away. Huge cloud sat on us all day and all night for two weeks. When we were set down there, a Chinook left us a pallet of C Rations and a water buffalo as in the picture. After two weeks water was getting low, maybe half a tank, so we started rationing it, in case we had another two weeks of fog. It stretched on. One night our LT was taking a short walk to the water point, and heard some splashing. He climbed up on the tank, and looked down into the hatch, with his penlight. There was a Recondo private swimming around in there, taking a bath! All hell broke loose.
“Sergeant of the Guard!”, he shouted. Several of us including the E7 from both teams came running. The poor kid was standing in the hatch dripping wet, nekid, and scared shitless. The Recondo LT cam up, and ordered his E7 to take the idiot to their CP. We were in a fix.
One of our issues was that previous residents of the hill top, mostly ARVN’s had ringed the hill top with booby traps and never taken them out. There were literally hundreds! We only ran one patrol, due to both that and the heavy fog, which persisted down about 3,000 ft for the hill top. On that patrol we had found a small creek, so we took every canteen and both teams made a patrol in force, to refill all of them. We did that once every three days, until the clouds broke, and they swapped out the water tanker. And left us there for two more weeks. This was like late December of 68.
You know... the IRA is still alive and well. And if they dig up their weapons and oil them up... and decide that they can live with the Protestants long enough to exterminate the muzzies off their island... It would be TV worth watching.

If it were 1984 and we were still sticking "Run Jesse Run" bumper stickers to the front bumpers of our Jeeps and trucks... in jest. Because noone was actually going to lynch Jesse Jackson... yeah! Right on.
But it's 2025 and these unhinged troons aren't putting up bumper stickers. They are assassinating people in job lots... at schools, churches, colleges, and trying it at golf courses. It's a different world and a different breed.
So for sure! Let her do what she wants. Until she calls for assassinations in an environment where assassinations have become a daily thing. And then give her a USSS colonoscopy. Because she is making clear threats against a POTUS AND anyone who might politically oppose her.

Again... I ask... what would have happened to any of us had we been stupid enough to put a "Kill all the Kenyans" sticker on a truck in 2009? Bet that would not have ended well. Even if it had been in 'jest.'
You can't put "Kill a Commie for Mommy" stickers on your tailgate now. You can't put anything anti-LGBTWWRIDXUINFZZZZZ on a vehicle or it will be destroyed by violent activists. And will be your fault.
With greatest reverance and respect to the First Amendment (the one protected by the second) it does NOT give carte blanche to be an inciter of violence. It does protect satire and sarcasm. Which is where we were 40 years ago when folks were joking about running down Jesse Jackson with a Chevy K2500 squarebody big block. But in 2025 the leftist queer, butt-stabber Troons ARE killing people. And that totally changes the dynamic of what is a "Cute and cheeky bumpersticker" from free speech to Incitement to commit murder or treason or political assasination.
Therein lies the difference.
