Portland Oregon — A 26-year-old bartender at a downtown sports bar was arrested Saturday night after what police described as a “tip jar tantrum” during a packed football game.
According to witnesses, Jessica Miller had been pouring drinks nonstop for nearly an hour when a group of fans ran up a $300 tab but left only $2 in change on the bar. Miller allegedly snatched the bills, held them in the air, and shouted, “That’s not a tip—that’s a slap in the face!”
Patrons say she then unplugged the jukebox, silenced the game, and began pacing the bar while chanting, “Twenty percent or go home!” The scene escalated when she started pouring shots of well whiskey onto the floor, declaring them “sacrifices to underpaid staff everywhere.”
Police say Miller refused to unlock the bar cooler until “every customer pledged loyalty to tipping culture.”
Some regulars hailed her as “the voice of service workers everywhere,” while others said she had turned “happy hour” into “handcuffs hour.”
She seems nice.
