If You’re Going To Own Pit Bulls

Then there was this case in 2020 of a girl getting scalped alive in a pitbull attack.

If you saw the owner, you'd guess what kind of dogs she owned.

If it ever happens to someone I care about, and you find yourself in the shoes of Alexandria, just know that it won't be quick. It won't be painless. You'll beg for death for a long time before it comes. Remember that when you decide to have a dangerous dog. There are many like me..

Chimps are generally stronger than humans, and kind of don't stop until they are dead type thing.
Anyone who has an animal in their home that they can't physically control should look into penis enlargement surgery. It's cheaper than having people's faces reattached..

Physical strength is only one component.

The mother of one of my coworkers was attacked by their house cat who went crazy one day for some reason.
Went to the doctor and the cheap ass idiots gave her some oral antibiotics and sent her home.

Cue being rushed back to the ER a week later with a hugely messed up leg and all kinds of complications and a week long stay at the hospital and then rehab afterwards...

That little cute harmless cat can really mess you up good.

But had she ripped it's head off and raped it's warm corpse after the initial attack, none of that would have been a problem. Dont ask me how I know.

You want to see vicious.

Post some chimpanzee attacks.
Those fuckers will rip your balls 🏀 ⚽️ off, root and stem.
They sure don't look weak by any means.

I know it's an old thread, but thought I'd share this, from a classy neighborhood:

The unpredictability of the breed on full display. Many are nice, many are not. It is beyond 'how they're raised' too because the blood lines are so crossed that there is no standard.

Kudos to the neighbors who tried their best to help this guy in the story above.

Dem scary looking dogs again. Need to ban any dog that looks scary. What does a person need a dog that looks scary for anyway. People should only be allowed to own bolt action chihuahuas.

I wouldn't make fun of that. Here in FL, the homeowners Insurers have done just that. Most insurers have a "Dangerous Breed" list of animals (mostly dogs) for which they won't write a new policy if the family owns one, or cancel the policy if they are caught with a dog on that list. But I mean very standard breeds like GSDs, Dobermanns, great danes, etc. not just Pit Bulls. My insurer doesn't have a list but goes by "bite history." As long as your dog doesn't bite anyone, they're good.

And, then, there's the HOA.

I got attacked (I guess you could call it that) by eight dogs on Thursday. They all belong to my neighbor and have been on our property 7 of the first 9 days of October, chasing everything including our in-laws cats and coming after their dogs (which were fortunately in their kennels).

There were 7 Aussies and a mixed breed in that group. They started after me from about 110 yards, and I waited until they got within 15 before I did what I had to do.

There are a few less now. Hopefully they stay away.

Pack mentality is a mo-fo. I would bet that one-on-one they might be nice. I'll never wait to find out though.

I did call and file a complaint with the Sheriff's office. They literally didn't care, just told me that I was within my right to do so. Welcome to country life.

Is your neighbor pursuing legal/civil action due to the "loss of his property?" Or does OK Law exempt victims from that action in this case?

Absolutely she is not. She has no legal ability to in this county.

Edited: Homeowners are allowed to defend property, livestock, poultry and domestic animals from anything that is causing harm. Mountain lions, bears, bobcats etc... Even your typical shithead dogs.

Unfortunately, Florida considers household pets "property" and doesn't allow homeowners to defend against an attack on them. One cannot use deadly force to defend against property crimes, as you can in Tx and (apparently, OK). What we can do though, is stand in between the pet and the attacker. Then it becomes an attack on the dog owner's person... where deadly force is authorized, assuming all the other Self defense criteria are met.

I think he was referring to the dude who sodomized a GSD with his finger, while it was attacking a fluffy little white dog. The video is out there somewhere.

Lol I actually haven't seen that. Don't really want to either.

I've heard of dog attacks being thwarted with such tactics though, but personally I would prefer to use .556 or 9mm to stop such attacks.

Pitbulls are pretty nuts when they go in their kill mode.

Even our fish and game laws allow owners of cattle and poultry to kill in order to protect them.

This doesn't mean that I enjoy having to do what I did. I was just within my legal right when 8 dogs came running at me growling and barking - while I was on my own property.

Be forewarned, while the finger in the butt is funny... this is a legitimate attack on a small dog by a large one that wasn't able to be controlled. I don't find the latter part funny.

Kinda crazy, the bull terrier used to be America's nanny dog. I don't know what selective (or unselective) breeding has done to them.

This is Althea, or Allie. She's 85 lbs of pure cuddles and was purchased from a hells angel breeder in NH. We can trace her blood line back 50 years. No we didn't do that to her ears, the breeder did it and we were pissed.

She knows every command in the book, including attack, guard and defend (in German so it's not a word she hears regularly). We do bite work with her, so she knows I'll tell her when I want her to get froggy.

When she eats we will fill her bowl and she will wait to eat. One time I ran out the door and forgot to give her the eat command. I came back 6 hours later to one very hungry dog and a totally untouched bowl.

She doesn't pull at all on the leash, my girl walks her just fine. She lays her head on my elderly mothers lap and begs for scratches. My dad feeds her pieces of cheese (not too much, it's not great for her, but I can't stop him) and she gently takes it from his hand. When he fell over one time she dove under his head and saved him from hitting the floor. After that she got all the cheese she could eat.

We got a 7lb Shihtzu recently and Sadie is Allie's favorite friend. She *gently* herds bigger dogs away from Sadie at the dog park because Sadie still barks at bigger dogs.

I think it's 70% how the dog is raised, socialized, and lead etc - and that doesn't just mean given all the snacks and treated super well (aka allowed to boss it's family around). For the rest, I'll agree that there are some fucked up blood lines out there.

But hating all dogs that "look" like a particular kind of dog or blanket bans is exactly what we all bitch about re gun control.

Don't be a hypocrite.

Allie is staring at you and asking for a treat.

Years ago a pit bull had latched on to a kid's leg, and would not let go. Police could not shoot it, as there were a crown of people around. One LEO grabbed a road flare, lit it, and stuck it up the dog's butt. That pit bull let go very quickly. This was in the San Jose, CA, area.

Hopefully, none of us on this forum would "enjoy" doing what you had to do to protect your pets. None of us. But we all love our pets (sometimes even more than our humans) and would protect them to the ends of the Earth.

It is the most regrettable thing that I have to do. I am a true dog lover (unless they're assholes).

I share my experiences because it might make someone think, and that might just help keep a "pet" at home - where they belong in the first place. Please make no mistake that dogs with a collar that behave themselves - I will do my absolute best to get back to their home safely.

I am working with the lady that owned the 8 dogs right now to try to find homes for several of the remaining dogs. She's not as upset with me as I am with her right now.

I probably have nothing (more) of value to contribute here anymore, so I'll see myself out of this conversation.

In a case like that you grab one of its legs and snap it, if necessary, break another until it can fight.

True, but while statistics can be mad to lie, used properly they show a trend. 65% of fatall mauling are Pits.

Same in CO. I know a guy who warned his neighbor a couple times about his dog killing lambs and calves. He shot it killing one. The neighbor called the sheriff to press charges. My boss was going to leave it be, but since the other guy called the sheriff. He sent the sheriff back to serve him for the loss of livestock.

And my single experience doesn't equate to a rule. But I see a lot of people here arguing that a whole class (not breed, the dogs that make up these stories are way too varied to be called a breed) should be banned or seen as inherently dangerous.

Let alone some of you that sound like you can't wait to pop one.

Maybe we need a national apbt registry? Maybe we need regular mental health evaluations from people that own them. Maybe a system where neighbors could report bad owners so the police can take their dogs away to protect the community? We could call it a brown flag law!

Maybe we could force owners who want a pitbull or a dog that looks like one to go through a registration and background check process. They could pay $200 for a stamp to put on their dogs collar to prove they were registered and legal!

Maybe we could restrict owners to only having pitbulls of a particular size? Only specific colors or a particular tooth setup.

Think of the children! If you're against pitbull regulation you must be for dead children!

But I digress...

God forbid we bring personal responsibility and punish the owners who don't manage their dogs correctly instead of instituting blanket bans or registration lists.

Yes I know I'm being pretty on the nose with all this but it's crazy to me that you guys don't understand this.

What I understand is that you're suggesting is wait until someone is dead or mauled badly before realizing there is a problem.

It is a slippery slope. How about "For every one that is mauled or killed by a pit bull, first the owner is mauled to the same extent, or killed. then execute 20 PB's for each one involved. Then the family loses everything they own. " Live on TV.

The argument that equates rules regulating dogs with a propensity to be vicious to the 2nd amendment are a red herring at best.
If I leave my gun in the front yard, it will not suddenly harm another person, yet it is still irresponsible and I should be held accountable in the event a person of ill intent uses that same gun committing an evil deed.
A pit bull is like a Sig P320, it can go off at any time and kill someone, including some innocent person with no provocation whatsoever.
As far as the story I posted, it is likely the owner of the pit bulls was a person of ill repute and possibly an unlicensed pharmacist.
Apparently, there has been a few reports of his dogs being aggressive.
