Hey guys i bought a POF 308-16 about 1 1/2 years ago, which i waited approx a year before I got that weapon in my hands. When I got it on my first outing I had some feed and extraction proplems. I sent the gun back and then took it back to the range just to check funtionabilty. Well it worked fine but I noticed that the brass was mutilated with scratches and some were pretty deep. Called POF and they told me it sounded like a mag problem, so I will get a couple of Pmags and try it. If that dont work well back to Pof it goes. I must say I love this rifle but for $2400 and a 1 year wait you would think this rifle would run like a swiss watch. As i said I love this rifle and I want it to work but right Now I just dont trust it. I heaard that there were some QC problems at POF and want to know if these QC problems have been fixed.I probably will be sending this rifle back because i want it 100%. I want another one but in the 20" version for a SASS build but cant pull the The Trigger on it because of the Problems I'm haveing now. Also What are you guys finding on difference of effective range from the POF-16 Vs POF-20.Also if there is a 20" SASS rifle out there better than POF what is it Accracey and Dependability to me is #1. As far a scratches on your brass goes that could be due to the fact that semi-auto's are harder on brass (would have to see pics) than bolt guns. Try P-MAGS as they work great for me and everyone seems to love them. I have had no issues what so ever with my POF so I would have to answer the quality control question with a "NO". As far as a better rifle I have yet to see one but I may be biased. As far as effective range I have no problem shooting/engaging targets out to 800 yards with my 16.5". Hope this helps.

Right now I'm out of town working but soon as I get back my pof is going to get a work out and see if any problems present themselves. If they rear Thier ugly heads I am confedent pof will make them right. As for the 16" vs 20"'I know the 16's effective range is 600- 800 yards and I know some who can shoot it on man size steel at 1000. The 20"'should by all account extend the effective range due to higher muzzle velocitys. So what I'm asking, what are you guys seeing in effective range of the 20" barrel vs the 16"barrel. I'm guessing here but I would think if the 16" is a 6-800 yard rifle I would think the 20" would be a 800-1000 yard rifle. Providing the right ammo. I realy want another POF this time a 20 ". Oh and one more thing has anyone tried the hornady TAP 308'
110'grain for CQB out to about 400 yards it's incredibly accurate and very devastating it have very little recoil, I would compare it to a 6.8. This will be the ammo of choice in my pof 16. Thanks for the comment

I think POF got painted with QC problems because of QC problems with the DPMS Mags they were using. DPMS had a bad run of mags and since POF uses the DPMS mags the bad rep splashed on them. My POF was a solid shooter for sure.

I think your right, Because customer service is top notch. Soon as i get back home i will get some p-mags and shhot the hell out of it. and will probably pull the trigger on a 20" upper. Dose any one have any recomendations for a tactical but stock that will serve for CQB as well for presion shooting for the POF. I love the Viltor that comes with My 16 but was wondering if the PSR would be better. Do they make a PSR stock that is not only cheek weld adjustable but colapsable with fine adjustments to length of pull. Recomendations for a very good PSR for my POF-308-16 would be appriciated.

Knock on wood....I have never had a failure to feed in the first several hundred rounds. I am running 155 bergers and it is a solid 600 yard gun....I have not shot it further yet. I am sure with the results I am getting that it would perform very well at 800. Beyond that dope is high and a lot of my velocity has bled off.

Hey has anyone here tried the pof 25 rounders in the reliability arena. I like the idea of the 25 rounder but 50 extra duckets for 5 rounds is outrageous.

I have the POF with the 14.5". Shoots the sierra 168 at around 2450 at the muzzle, and should be around 1125 fps at 1000yds. Have only gone out to 650 yards but sure did great once I dialed in the elevation. Had a couple hiccups initially but POF was nothing but helpful. They even paid shipping both ways in getting the gun working right. And took about 10 days total (I live in Az). For some reason I have one PMAG that the gun doesn't like at all, but functions great with others and C-products mags.

Personally I switched to Geissle National Match trigger, and have never looked back. I cannot say enough good about these triggers. A little pricey but exceptional. The trigger it came with was okay - I believe they are a timney that POF puts their name on, but don't know that for certain. Very crisp, but a tad heavy for long range precision in my opinion.

Thanks for your comment on the Geisselle trigger. I've been wanting to put one in my own P308 but haven't "pulled the trigger" on the purchase just yet. Your comment helped me with my decision because I also feel the POF trigger is too heavy for a precision rifle.

The rail on MY P308 is the "Predator" rail and the rail on the newer POF rifles is the HSR (Hunter-Sniper Rail). I have yet to handle one of the newer rifles but I think I prefer my rail over any I've seen or handled.

I agree on liking the old rail. I think being able to have a bipod/grip/etc wherever I want it is better for me. The new one looks good and I guess if you have a 56mm scope being able to mount it lower for a good cheek weld is nice.
Are the rails on the predator the industry norm, will all the gear I use on my DD rail fit? Seems like a while back I read that people wish theirs were the standard size. Anybody know what I'm talking about? Maybe it was when they first came out...

I have the POF TITS 4.5lb trigger, which is the Tactical Integrated Trigger System that comes with the rifle. The newer rifles are being shipped with Geissele triggers in them.

My 223 has the Predator rale and I just got my P308 with the Hunter-Sniper rail. So far I'm really liking the hunter-sniper. It's a lot smoother and more oval than big and round. Even for my huge hands I like the hunter-sniper so far.

There is a guy in colorado - Bill Springfield - that can take the POF trigger down about a pound from stock. He charges around $45 if I remember right. He does excellent work, had him do some work on another AR and was very pleased.
