I put some of these up in photography, but I figured there would be a bunch of people here who would enjoy them as well.
This is a 12lb Cat I caught at Lake Powell last week, very uncommon for me to catch one this size. The biggest one prior to this was probably a 3-4 pounder, and I've been fishing there for the past 20 years.

Here's a better pic with my brother in law.

And here is my 6 month old nephew for reference.

Lake Powell is just WAAAAAY too much fun!!!
(Didn't hurt that I was on a $5 million dollar houseboat either!)

Never caught a cat out there... But I landed a monster striper on a frozen sardine when I was like 15!

It was also funny at the time, to drop chunks of icecream into the water at the marina... and watch a bunch of Monster carp eat 'em... and "smoke" out their gills! lol

nice catch! I have only had the kids out once this year fishing. In fact this is the first year in the past 15 I havent fished hard for smallies in the spring. You my friend have inspired me to get my license and hit the creek tomorrow!

I have found the smaller cats to be much tastier. I caught a 8 and a 17 pound a few weeks ago and the larger one wasnt near as good as the smaller one. Texture was even different. Usually we only catch in the 5-7 pound range. These arent the same Cats but still fun to catch and fun to eat. Got these off live perch about half dollar size Lake Granbury in July.

Nice channel! I caught a 12 lb channel out of a private farm lake when I was 11 and thought I caught a monster.

As stated above I usually go for smaller channels like in the 2-3lb range. Find the older ones to be a little more tough and different texture. I will eat big blues though.

It was for sure! He took off tearing out line and then got hung up in an under water bush (the lake had been rising 6 inches a day for a month or so) I thought we had lost him, because I could feel it hung up in a bush, and I almost broke the line trying to get it off. Eventually it felt like the bush/tree broke off the botom and I was reeling it in. I thought this because it has happened before, well as I was reeling it in I figured the fish was gone and I was just reeling in a bush(or a volkswagon, rock,or a dead body)but as it got closer to the boat, the line took a quick turn to my right. I knew at that point there was still a fish on it, but none of us were prepared for what surfaced in the murky water.
