Im not opening up the can of worms on how/when to clean but I was wondering what to use for carbon/powder residue? I've read several threads aboue cleaning but they mainly talk about copper. Im using kg 12 for that. I've always used hoppes #9 but didn't know how other felt or experiences they had with this product vs others. Posts ur favs and why! Thanks so much

I like using kroil oil, run a wet patch and let it sit for a hour or so then run a wet patch again. Some people also like MP7.

Butches bore shine is good for everything. For really stubborn cooper I use 5 minutes of Sweets. But other than that, BBS for everything else

Hoppe's #9 has always worked for me. Haven't tried anything else 'cause I haven't needed to.

sweets for stubborn, benchrest eliminator for normal cleaning, and when i am feeling lazy, i shoot the bore with som sharp-shoot-r wipe out bore foam and let it sit for a bit while i clean everything else.

i had a 7mm rem mag that was really fouled, so i shot some bore foam in it and let it sit overnight, and this is what came out

Wipe Out and especially Patch Out are fantastic. I always finish up with #9 just for the smell though.

For carbon and powder removal, I have been using KG-1.
This has worked very well for me.

I've always cleaned with Hoppes #9 as well.
