Things cleared off a bit here, and while I was getting shit ready to bang some steel, I spotted a bobcat across the field. Not wanting to tear up the pelt with the .308, I grabbed the .223 and squeezed one off, and watched in disbelief as the *)^#+~ bobcat ran off. You see, there's an enviromental factor called wind, which makes just a little bit of difference @ 375 yards. In addition, did you know these things can when spooked, leap 8-12 feet in the snow, going uphill.
Anyway, after crying on my towel, I headed to the far end of the "Range". Here's a view from 975, the targets are located on the edge of the timber in the distance. Yup, still winter here!
Well I hit a few, missed a few more, and moved a little closer to my steel.
My hit percentages were not what I had hoped for, so at 600 yards I sent a few more. Things improved, until I started shooting left handed, and while I got several hits on a 10-12” target, when I shot at the 6” diamond ones, things went to hell. Note to self, LOTS of dry firing/shooting left handed, and figger out what to do with the freaking bifocals!
Here’s the targets:
Well I tried getting stuck with the Toyota on a sidehill, and then headed back to the house. I unloaded all my crapola, and just before dark sent a final round (with the .308) across the field.
Remember Mr. Bob from earlier in the day? Let’s just say that redemption is sweet, very very sweet.
But what the hey, we all miss…that’s why we play the game. </span> </span> </span>
