New Atlas Owner Question

So i bought a few things from triadtactical.com on sunday and they arrived today. One of the items was an Atlas BT-10-TL with ADM mount. The problem I am having is that when i turn the bottom dial on the Atlas, it won't move it all. It stays in the same place. I rotate the dial to the opposite side of the pointing arrow till it stops and I get no movement. Am I doing something wrong or did I get a faulty unit? I'm hoping I'm just a dumbass. i can't mount it on my rifle yet as I am still waiting for my SRS to arrive from Seekins. Any help is appreciated. I want to cover all my bases before I call triad about this. Thanks guys.

Re: New Atlas Owner Question

I'd call the folks over at Accu-Shot instead. They're very nice people and would probably be of more assistance than the people over at Triad, not saying Triad can't help but I'd just go right to the manufacturer since they're easily accessible.

Re: New Atlas Owner Question

mine was the same way it was very hard to move until i got it mounted.
i almost could not move it by hand it is very stiff.

Re: New Atlas Owner Question

Looking directly at the dial from the bottom, turn th knob all the way to the left and then try to move the bipod. Keep in mind this is a NEW unit and as such, it will begin to move easier with use.

Re: New Atlas Owner Question

It will be fine once mounted.

Re: New Atlas Owner Question

Thanks guys. You are all correct. I am just a dumbass. I turned the knob all the way left and using quite a bit of force, i was able to make the top move left and right. It is very stiff. This is a good thing.

As always, you guys rock and helped a noob out in just a few minutes.

One more question, should the pivot between the two units be oiled at all?

If it doesn't loosen up as quickly as you'd like, a little oil won't hurt anything.

Re: New Atlas Owner Question

Mine was the same way, but once it was mounted and I got some time behind it the functions smoothed out.

Re: New Atlas Owner Question

Thank you for purchasing an Atlas bipod!

This is the question we hear the most and the trick is to mount it on the rifle. They will be a little stiff but with the tension knob turned to the stop in the direction opposite of the arrow, move the base/legs in both Pan and Cant a few times and it should smooth/loosen up.

We have plans to add a FAQ to our sebsite where this will be addressed....

Re: New Atlas Owner Question

Thanks Kasey. My rail from Seekins won't be here for a while, so i have been manhandling and to an extent, making love to it. I really appreciate that the bipod is this well made and stiff to start. Thanks again to all the guys, the hide rocks as always.

Is it wrong to make love to a bipod?? I THINK NOT, IF ITS AN ATLAS!!

Just link them to the 4 or 5 threads that have already discussed this very topic....

Re: New Atlas Owner Question

I couldnt move mine at all by hand. I thought mine was broke too. But Once you mount it to the gun its perfect. Dont worry about it. Just mount it and use it. Its the best Bipod I ever had. I will never use a Harris again.
