Hey im wondering if anyone has had good luck with a particular brand of slam pad for there 1911. I have the SA troph match and it came with 2 mags that have an intagrated pad on them that dont look like the screw on. I bought 4 more SA 7rnd mags that dont have pads. should i buy SA pads to get best fit or will others work well. Im thinking the man thing will be the screws it comes with. My self, I was thinking i would need to tap the existing holes to put them in good unless they come with a self taping corse thread type. Also was thinking about getting some hard oak or walnut and staining to match the grips, has anyone ever tried this? Also can I put a 8rnd without a pad and it be close to flush with the wide mouth mag well? Sorry if this is a dumb question, Im just not getting much out of reviews online for other brand of slam pads. Thanks for any inpute or ideas.

Re: 1911 slam pad

+1 on the Wilson combat... I have four 8 round mags and five 10 rounders, best thing you can do for a 1911 is get quality mags

Re: 1911 slam pad

+1 for the Wilson mags.

Also its a good idea to replace springs every year. Especially if you keep em loaded for long periods of time. Two items that will make a 1911 run like shit are cheap ammo and bad mags.

Re: 1911 slam pad

Wilson Combat mags are the way to go, hands down. I use nothing else for my 1911's.

Re: 1911 slam pad

Have to second the Wilsons. The only thing to look out for is when loading a gun to capacity, make sure you give the mags a good bomb because its sometimes hard to seat with a full mag and the pads really help with that length on the magazine.

Re: 1911 slam pad

thanks alot for the info guys. i think ill get some wilson 8rounders like u said and just keep my 7rounder SA mags around for extra.

Wilson Combat. I shoot Limited 10/Single Stack Divisions, and mags get dropped a lot. The Wilson Combats have held up the best for me.
