well i finally decided after a few months of either getting a marlin XTVR or a CZ 455 varmint that i'm going with the CZ 455 varmint, and got what i'd consider a good price on it through the Hunter Education instructor program, $360.00 shipped!

i already figured the DIP 11mm 25 moa base is a must, i have an interim scope picked out, i have the rings in hand, and figured i'd go with a YODAVE trigger upgrade if i don't like the out of the box one. i also have an oversized bolt knob in mind.

it comes with one 5 rd mag, i don't know if it is poly or metal. i'd like to get another mag or two.

as the mags are somewhat pricey, which mags seem to be better, the poly or the metal?

one more thing, i'm hooked on the AICS style airsoft rifle stock modification that i've seen on many CZs and other rifles.

with the AICS stock mod, is it better to go with a 10 rnd mag than a 5 rounder to at least to get some reach on it into the cavity of the stock, or does it matter?

while i'm filling out the order form for the rifle, i may as well buy a few mags too. thanks for any input.

10rd mags help for sure, i dont use my 5rd mag much anymore just cuz of the extra effort it takes to insert the mag.

resurrected the thread as i have another question on the AICS airsoft stocks.

BTW i did get a great deal on 2 10 round poly mags, barely used 25.00 each. the seller even sprung for shipping!

i've been scouring the boneyards for a well g96 folder to canniballize, to no avail. i'm stuck on the well's g-96 as it has the mag well where it should be, and even the proper groove in the forestock for bipod and /or handstop placement. so i'm dedicating myself to this project enough to do this with a fully functional one with the full price that follows, and have this question:

seeing as i shoot leftie with the rifle, are the extended cheek piece adjustment bolts stick out too far to be comfortable?

can they be reversed to the other side, or replaced with another type of adjustment bolt?

if anyone would be so kind to shoulder their's "backwards" and let me know i'd appreciate it.

I've got a Chinese JW-15, that uses the CZ style magazine, and I thought about doing the AICS stock for it before the Savage TR came into the picture. The magazine on the JW-15 drops right out into my hand when I hit the release, so I saw no issue with using the 5rd mags in the AICS. Insertion is not too bad once you get the feel of where the well is.
The way the CZ style release lever pulls backward into the magazine actually works better than the savage lever in my AICS conversion IMHO. So I think the CZ 5rd mags will work fine.

I have used the 5 and10rd mags in the Savage. It is nice to use the 10rd mag because you can grab the magazine and pull while pressing the release. But, i have found the 10rd mag to be annoying while shooting off hand because it protrudes into the spot I want my support hand. If you gave me the choice, but I could only have one, I'd pick the 5rd mags.

As for the cheekpiece bolts... You can replace the knobs with Allen bolts of the same thread. They sit flush with the outside surface of the stock, so they should be an easy and comfortable replacement if you have issues with the knobs. The allen bolts are what my stock has in it currently.
