The problem:
I have a rem 700 rifle with a harris non swivel bipod on it. It is significantly "canted" to the right, I almost have to go up a complete click on the right leg in order to level it out. I had a stock varmint stock on there and it has had the same issue as with the current hs Precision stock on it now. I have pulled it off and reattached it a few times thinking this is the issue but I am kinda lost. I am beginning to believe the action is not straight in accordance with the stock or something like that.

Has anyone had an issue like this before?

Thanks

Re: Bipod Issue

No, a Pod-Loc won't solve your problem, but replacing the bipod with a BRM-S AND a Pod-Loc will.

Either way, I would contact Harris Engineering and see if you can get it back to them to check out.

Re: Bipod Issue

Im sure buying a swivel bipod would solve my issue but I rather not spend that kind of money when I have a bipod already. But if that is the only way to fix my problem I will contact Harris

Re: Bipod Issue

Have you checked to see if the sling swivle stud on the stock is not centered correctly. Most of the hs stocks i have owned had this issue even the two m24 stocks i have owned. If you get the Brms with the pod loc this will allow you to adjust your cant until it is even, If your sling stud is off center. If your action is canted that is a whole other issue.
Hope this helps.

Re: Bipod Issue

I briefly looked at it, but took no measurements.

I just figured it wasnt due to this because I have had 2 different stocks mounted with 2 different studs...maybe both are off kilter

Re: Bipod Issue

Is your scope leveled? If so, is the surface of the bipod even (the part that contacts the stock)? You could either send it back, or shim it on one side with some rubber shelf liner.

Re: Bipod Issue

I've had the same issue on a Harris non-swivel. I've had it on a number of different stocks and it is always off level. It's not nearly as bad as the one you describe but it is annoying at times. Mine is a non-notched leg so I just adjust up until I level it out and then tighten it down. If mine were as bad as yours I'd probably call Harris up to see what they say about it.

Re: Bipod Issue

add some strips of rubber on one side of pod (there is a rubber strip where it seats against the stock already)

Re: Bipod Issue

Harris non-swivel bipods are designed with a brass plate surrounding the swivel stud hole. This plate has a center index mark, and can be moved side ways to correct for off center studs. Remove the bipod from the rifle, and adjust the brass plate left or right to re-center the index mark. Re-install on rifle, check for cant, and repeat as necessary.

Re: Bipod Issue

Awesome! Didn't even realize that you could do that until you pointed it out. Thanks a million!

Re: Bipod Issue

Do you have the product info sheet that came with the bipod? I don't know if it counts as instructions but it may help.
