I shot my first 3gun in a while this past weekend and I remembered how i hated carrying everything. I used my Eberlestock gunslinger and jus carried my AR and it was a pain. A few of the guys had the voodoo drag bag and it looked pretty good. I prefer the longer 60 bag so i can carry scoped rifles as well. The midway bag is 56 inches and less than half the price of the voodoo. The voodoo does have molle attachments though, I like that. If the voodoo is thta much better, I dont mind dropping 180 on it. However, at 75 bucks the midway bag looks pretty good.

I don't know about the Midway bag, but I bought a Voodoo drag bag from quartermaster for under $100 with some coupons and love it.

Re: Midwayusa or voodoo drag bag for 3 gun competition

Never had a midway bag but got a Voodoo double gun bag from Ceylon on here. It's built really well for the price and I can just about guarantee it's worth the extra money over the midway gear from what I have seen. Like I said, never had a midway bag but have checked out a few.

Re: Midwayusa or voodoo drag bag for 3 gun competition

I don't have the voodoo bag, but I love the midway drag bag. It houses a 338 lapua, spotting scope, survival knife, targets, and room for plenty of other stuff.

Re: Midwayusa or voodoo drag bag for 3 gun competition

I have the voodoo and i am very happy with it, holds all my gear and have never had any issues with the zippers or tears. going on almost a year now with it.

Re: Midwayusa or voodoo drag bag for 3 gun competition

My Midway drag bag has proven to be poorly made. On the second trip to the range one of zippers tore up. I cannot recommend them.
You might check with ceylonc on here. He runs a website that sells Condor and Voodoo. I have purchased from him before and he is a top notch seller, not to mention that he is supporting this site.

Same stay away recommendation here.

Mine arrived damaged and not by shipping but most likely be the manufacture or the shipping from china to the U.S.

I had two of the snaps that appeared to have been crushed when they were installed and spent 20+ minutes each prying them apart trying not to damage them further. On the first trip one of the zipper pulls came unclasped, that also had been damaged when installed as best I could tell. Then there is the issue with the carry handles, they are located too far to the rear. Put one tactical rifle in it and it’s a job to carry the bag without bumping the muzzle section on the ground. Put two in it and you will be bragging the ground. I found the back pack straps to be poorly located as well. Adjusted to sit as high as possible the bag was still bouncing/slapping my legs just above the rear of my knees. I am not tall 5’11” but not so short that this should be an issue.

The plus side is it will fit two full size tactical rifles well and has pockets everywhere. The material appears to be of good enough quality that it won’t rip or wear out any time real soon.

I got mine on sale and if it would not have cost almost as much as what I paid for it I would have returned it.

Left a review on midway of these issues but they pulled it.

This is typical Midway.
"I'm Larry Potterfield and thanks for letting us give you the business."

Ah, but that would be a different rant. Sorry.

I know this may be out of your price range but it might be worth a look for the 3-gunners...

The Optics Planet OpMod bag is pretty sweet. 45" OAL. Not sure if the OAL will fit the length rifle you want, but it works great for my carbines and SPR. It is build solid and has MOLLE on the inside so you can actually customize where your rifles are held. Comparing it to my Goruck GR1 and tactical tailor M5 bag, the quality seems good to me.

Plus its only 70 bucks.

Re: Midwayusa or voodoo drag bag for 3 gun competition

I'm not a VooDoo fan... had one and the fabric was terrible. It was stringing and snagging all over the place within 5 trips to the range (and it wasn't used as a drag bag or anything else with hard use). The zippers also left much to be desired.

Went with the Eagle HSRC and liked it so much I bought 2 more.

**EDIT** To be completely fair... the VooDoo is VERY nicely thought out with respect to what and where it carries. It was the materials used in the construction that let it down.

My two Condor Drag Bags have done well. They have become my "go to" bags for transport to the range. Price on both of mine was under $100 at the time.

Re: Midwayusa or voodoo drag bag for 3 gun competition

Wow, I couldn't be more pleased with my Midway bag. All the zippers work great and the snaps are perfect. I carry two scoped Remington 700 SPS Varmints, spotting scope, bipod, ear muffs, targets, etc. I've never had a problem. Plus, I bought it on sale. I'd have to wear it out twice, before paying for a VooDoo bag even starts to look good.

And Midway shipping is fast. If you use a coupon code, that usually mitigates the shipping costs.

+1 for the Midway bag. Just got mine today. Looks like they fixed some previous problems. String zipper-pulls have been replaced with sewn tabs. Protective coned is now attached. AR10 & scoped 22" bolt gun fit easily. Good value at $70, comparable to my $120 Voodoo.

I like the Safariland 3-gun bag.

Good quality cordura and heavy duty stitching. All the cuts are hot knifed or laser cut. All the edges are bound as well.

Cover shipping and you can have my OD Voodoo Drag Bag. It's been in the garage for years collecting dust.

There are several 3Gunners, me included, that tried the Midway bag...lasts maybe 2 or 3 matches and then it is trashed, not worth at all. I have a Voodoo that is going into it's third season and it is still in good shape. The zippers all work and nothing has torn. A few of the paracord zipper things have fallen off, but does not affect function. The fabric is faded on the top where the sun cooks it. I have an idea I might need to get a new bag before 2015. I also have a 36" Safariland I won at a match that I use for local matches and range trips with the ARs and .22s and I really like it, but it is too short for the VersaMax.

At one time I liked Midway. Now Midway=China, and the shipping costs are high.... If you read this Larry, please fix the situation.

I really like my Midway drag bag, but there are 3 things wrong with it as others have stated:

- zipper pulls come apart, as others have said. not a deal breaker, just repair with paracord...takes 2 minutes.
- 2 of the snaps along the main seam fell out, even though I NEVER used them. They just fell out. But, unless you plan on dragging you stuff through the dirt, you'll never have a reason to button up the zippers.
- the carry handle is a little off balance, unless you pack the bag a particular way it can be uncomfortable. I have zero issues with 1 scoped rifle, but when stuffing 2 scoped rifles in there (damn near 40lbs), there's no way I'd lug that thing more than a hundred yards at a time.

I purchased 4 midway rifle cases a few years ago and they are only used to transport our agency rifles to and from the range. They began to fall apart immediately and are pure junk but Larry would sure like your business.
