This first rifle is the hottest thing I think I've ever seen. I want to be on it.

That is all.

Sweet! Can't wait to try it on my 7wsm. Thanks Jared.

Re: APA's new rings

I don't have an exact date. We are running as fast as we can. I'm not going to wait for the entire batch to run in order to send them out. I have a lot of people waiting on them so we are going to pay more for anodizing but send them out in smaller batches as they are finished on the machine.

Re: APA's new rings

I saw these today.they are AWESOME!! I was amazed how detailed the cnc did the apa logo on top of the rings ,once again the attention to detail/quality is what makes APA who they are.

Re: APA's new rings

Re: APA's new rings

Jared,

What are the weight savings when compared to a set of Badger Steel rings, of the same size? I would think about upgrading, if it saved me a good bit of weight on my hunting rig.

Thanks in advance.

Re: APA's new rings

Everyone on the waiting list gets them for $165 because that's what we told everyone. If you weren't on the list it will be $195. I tried to keep the price as low as I could but there was just too much in them to retail them at $165.

The Badger rings I weighed came in at 7.1 oz. Our rings in .856 30mm were 3.9 oz which was a comparable size.

I tested a set yesterday on a 308 at 400 yards. Shot 3 shots, loosened the screws, pulled the rings back in the slot, pushed them forward and just hand tightened them & shot 3 more. 6 shots in 1.6" with Corbon 175's. I think at this point these rings are probably the biggest thing we've done yet. I hope you guys like them as much as we do. Jeff put a ton of time in the fixtures. We remade them after Shot Show. The tolerances that we held on these will rival anything on the market. Not say'n there the best just say'n they work. Every single ring is checked for concentricity. The numbers Jeff was able to produce with the new fixtures blew us all away. Most are within .0005 or less of true center. That's a realistic number not something just thrown out there. Most scopes are going to be out considerably more than that. There are no matched sets. You can take ring number 1 and put it with number 300. In the next batch we will engrave the ring height on the ring body somewhere. It's always something I wanted to see from others and I think would be useful to a lot of folks.

Re: APA's new rings

Jared your rings are f%cking awesome

i ordered a set which arrived in 2 days.. the look and feel of these rings are just great i have know doubt that these will preform

i dont think ill ever own a rifle without a set of APA rings or Bastard break.

Re: APA's new rings

Jered- What are the torque specs for your rings?

Thanks!

Re: APA's new rings

Jered,
The rings look really nice. Can you explain why it looks like they have a different inner diameters for the top half and bottom half?

Most all rings are that way. If they were the same size you could not tighten down on the scope. Rings need to have a smaller diameter then the scope.

Jared's ring s are sweet. Just got my set. Very nice work Jared!

Re: APA's new rings

Guys,
Sorry for the delay. I have been out of town for a few days and have had some personal things to deal with so I wasn't able to post.

The ring specs are 15 inch pounds on the cap just like any other ring. The side is going to be 30-45 inch pounds. The thing is the torx bits will start breaking around 60. I haven't found them to be toque sensitive in my tests. I've simply been pulling them on and off by hand and watching for impact shifts. At this point I've seen zero indicators to suggest that it really matters what you set them at due to the design.

Re: APA's new rings

Just mounted up a set of Jered's rings. Really high quality stuff and very good attention to detail. Like others have mentioned, one of the details that I really like is that the edge of the rings are chamfered/rounded to prevent scratching the tube of the scope. I've had other name brand rings that scratched one of my cerakoted scope tubes because they were sharp. Not here.
