Re: case trimmer

Look up little crow gunworks world best case trimmer. Sinclair international sells them. I use them for my .308 and .223 with great results.

Re: case trimmer

I really like my Forster Classic, there is a lot of accessories for it as well.

Re: case trimmer

I heard of one that is around 300 bucks and my buddy told me its like a pencil sharpener you stick the case head in, its trims and chamfer all in one. is this the one you guys are talkin about. anyway when I find one me and him are going in on it together I'm just tryin to find the best one. cuz trimming is important and not fun to do.

That is the Giraud case trimmer. It is extremely accurate and without a doubt the fastest trimmer made at any price. It is the king of the hill right now.

Re: case trimmer

Yea I just looked at it but its not 300 lol more like 425. That worlds finest trimmer looks pretty cool too. And I can order one for every caliber and buy a new drill for half the price. But I want accuracy. Just don't know how accurate it could be

Re: case trimmer

The world finest trimmer is very accurate. It locates the case off the shoulder, I trim after I size so the cases are all the same. Look it up on you tube, there are a few video reviews on them. I use mine in a small bench drill press at about 1000 rpm with excellent results.

Re: case trimmer

WOuld it be possible for you to post some pictures of your set up. also do you have to Chamfer after trimming?

Re: case trimmer

I am looking at one of these as well... does anyone know how many 'trims' one gets out of a cutting head?

I was also looking at an RCBS. But this looks like it is head and shoulders above... and one of those "buy once/cry once" deals vs. the RCBS.

But does anyone have experience with both?

Cheers,

Sirhr

I could not agree more. Mine was one of my best reloading tool investments ever. It totally took the chore out of trimming.

Re: case trimmer

Just send Doug your money, you'll be glad you did. And don't forget shellholders and cutters for all of your calibers.

Re: case trimmer

For those of you that have a Giraud type trimmer. How long and how much of a pain is it to swap cutters to a different cartridge? I shoot 6x47 Lapua, 7 WSM, 7 Dakota, 338 LM, 33LM Improved. I need to trim them all - how much of a pain will it be to swap them out?

Granted, its certainly NOT pain free now, but I'm not really looking to spend $500.00, including separate cartridge cutters if the PIA factor goes higher.

Re: case trimmer

You'll be pretty far north of the $500 by the time you're all said and done. It's not a pain at all to make the switch. I would recommend getting the split ring holders to make switching the shell holders pain free.

Re: case trimmer

Untill now I was proud of my old style RCBS with the collet shell holder and 3 way cutter powered by my drill. I always ease up on the collet to let the brass spin a little. I think that gives a better cut. The end result is smooth enough to turn it on your tounge and not cut youself.
