Sidearms & Scatterguns Concealed carry in my truck.

Re: Concealed carry in my truck.

Nice, I would have never thought of that. I was thinking of doing something similar in place of my spare tire in my wagon, since I have run flat tires. I could get all kinds of gear in there because we have a full size spare.

Re: Concealed carry in my truck.

I like the creativity but I question the functionality. Why go to that level of concealment in your vehicle? I keep a strong box (secured with a cable) in by truck just in case I have to leave my CCW in there. I know from first hand experience if you want to secure something in your vehicle then you have to lock it down in there. No level of concealment will it away from the thief.

Re: Concealed carry in my truck.

Very cool idea. Now to find someone who can install a center console in my truck.

Re: Concealed carry in my truck.

Looks good. Great idea incase of a smash and grab. Hopefully you can keep your center consol cleaner than the catch all that mine has become.

Re: Concealed carry in my truck.

Someone posted this on another Forum:

OCGA 16-11-112.
(a) As used in this Code section, the term:
(1)(A) 'False or secret compartment' means any enclosure which is integrated into or attached to a vehicle and the purpose of the compartment is to conceal, hide, or prevent discovery by law enforcement officers of:
(i) A person concealed for an unlawful purpose;
(ii) Controlled substances possessed in violation of Article 2 of Chapter 13 of this title; or
(iii) Other contraband.
(B) Examples of 'false or secret compartment' may include, but are not limited to:
(i) False, altered, or modified fuel tanks;
(ii) Original factory equipment on a vehicle that has been modified; or
(iii) Any compartment, space, or box that is added or attached to existing compartments, spaces, or boxes of the vehicle.....

As long as you don't use it for a purpose contrary to law, you should have no problem.

Re: Concealed carry in my truck.

I have pistol safe bolted down in my trunk, more for removing my edc when I go in certain building.

Re: Concealed carry in my truck.

Nice, I like it. Thanks for posting that.

Won't they just cut the cable and take the strong box to break into later?.....

Love Montgomery by the way. Probably gettin' real real crowded up there now that summer's here......20 years ago that place looked a LOT different!

Sure they can cut the cable. But most thieves are amateurs that don't carry around a set of bolt cutters, rather they prefer the smash and grab MO. Simply put if someone wants to steal something of yours they will, no full proof plan exist. But I also have multiply layers security that focus not only on prevention but also on recovery.

Montgomery has certainly changed. Just the 6 years I've been here I've seen a lot of growth, but most of it is not in the city itself, rather the Woodlands, Conroe, and Magnolia growing up around it.

Re: Concealed carry in my truck.

I don't know if you know it or not but you need closed cell foam to do what you did. Closed cell foam will not hold water. I think you did a great job. It looks really good.

Go to a junk yard, and find seats that will fit your truck with a center console. Unbolt current seats and unplug that dang seat belt sensor and place new seats in and bolt down. I just got a like new set for 75 dollars.

Re: Concealed carry in my truck.

I keep mine on my side in the truck at all times. i wouldnt have time to yank it out of a hiding place. i can draw it out of my serpa alot faster than trying to pull it out of the center console. and i wear it everywhere i go except church and govt buildings. Nice design though.

What? No guns in church!

Down in SC we are required to bring a rifle to church per state law.

The Law reads: "Every adult male must bring a rifle to church on Sunday in order to ward off Indian attacks."

Re: Concealed carry in my truck.

1) when im cc'ing the gun is always on me or tucked into the seat and covered by something like a hat. The only problem I run into is when you go somewhere where you cant have it or decide to drink. In which case a lock box on a cable gives me better peice of mind.

2) everything you do for antitheft is a deterant, plain and simple. Nothing is theif proof. Youre simply making it undesireable. My methods are:
DONT ADVERTISE; gun logo stickers aka content lists : might want to rethink.
also: flashy or popular vehicles get lots of attention.
LOCATION: self explanitory, try not to park in the hood (your not always afforded this, so take advantage of it) .
OUT OF SIGHT OUT OF MIND: you wouldnt believe how many reports ive read that say "laptop in plain veiw on front seat, window smashed". Hide it. Keep a garbage bag and a blanket in the trunk. If you have to move it to the trunk make sure no one sees.
LIGHT: park by it but keep it out of your car. Sunshades (even at night) in combonation with window tint make it so dark sometimes its hard to tell if the vehicle is occupied. (those alarm blinking lights can be couter productive if the illuminate your vehilce contents. I dimmed mine with that smoke paint)
THEIF MENTALITY: hit the easiest target with the biggest pay off. Lock your car, keep electronics, gps mounts , ipod cables hidden.

A theif has to worry about concealment and getting caught with criminal intruments. Common tools are handheld small tools such as: screwdrivers, vicegrips , pliars (wire cutters), porcelin, spark plug, hammer, knife, slim jim, coathanger (small ez bar).

If any of the above will sever your cable, get a better cable
Bolt cutters are bulky, job specific, and often desired to have mobile transport , I wouldnt worry about it.

I personally think these mobile safes are a great tool for a ccw carrier. Either used car, hotel, etc. ive used mine to hold my wallet while at the beach.
As for deep lsecret squirell hiding , I think Hiding the safe better could certianly help.
Maybe a trap door floor under a seat?

Re: Concealed carry in my truck.

In TX you don't have to. I can walk down the street with a rifle strapped to my back and call it day. I thought GA is was gun loving state until I moved out here.
