OK, with over 30 of these out there, I can now say without reservation that the initial idea came to light and is working well. I wanted to share a little on the continuing progress.

Rifles have now been built in barrel lengths from 22-24" going shorter kinda defeats the purpose. Twist of 1~8.5 is perfect for the 105's both the 105 Hornady and the new 105 Berger Hybrid are solid to 1300 yards, The initial projection of 7.2 mills to 1000 seems to be dead on and with the Berger 105 Hybrids its cut to 7.0

Accuracy has been consist most report 1/2 MOA being easy. nothing over 3/4 moa reported yet.

Amunition: Copper Creek and McCort are loading it now and keep components in stock, I talked to Pete at Corbon and he is on board as well.

Brass. 100,000 pieces are on order properly sized and marked. Late March/Early April delivery. Projected at 65 Cents a piece

Dies, Hornady should deliver the first 50 sets to me by the end of the month.

If your looking for the ultimate AR-10 round for LR Target/Competition or ultimate LR Coyote rifle---------------------------This is Definatly it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopfully some of the guys shooting them will chime in here.

Re: GAP-10 6mm Creedmoor

What twist are you recommending for the DTAC? Tubbs swears by a 1:7.5 I think for the XC. I have an upper on order.

Re: GAP-10 6mm Creedmoor

Sounds good George but there is just one thing about the GAP-10's... They're so ugly

See. It almost doesn't even look f'n awesome.

Re: GAP-10 6mm Creedmoor

I thought the twist was 1-7.7? anyway I made my brass by necking down with 4 bushings...285,280,275 then finally 269. seated the 105's with a 6.5 creedmoor die and loaded with 41.8 grains of H4350. During fireforming I was getting 3" groups at 400 and 2" groups at 300. Velocity was between 2900 and 3050. Lots of ejector swipe some cratered primers. The shoulder moved about 5 thousands after firing. I have a heavy buffer Im going to try next week to see if I can eliminate some of the ejector swipe.
Berger hybrids came in today as did my Hornady dies. Also trying some RL-17 powder for alittle more vel. RL-17 moves the pressure curve farther down the barrel. Im curious to see how this will effect my cycling...depending on the wind I will have a range report on Monday....(forgot to mention I run a Gemtech Sandstorm full time)

The Creedmoor case is shorter than the 243, which allows you to use long high BC bullets like the 115gr DTAC (G1 .580 appx). You can't really use the DTAC in a AR10/LR308 243 without seating it deep and losing powder capacity because of the mag length. The Creedmoor using the DTAC or 108 Berger is still flying supersonic at 1400 yds.

Re: GAP-10 6mm Creedmoor

Ballistics basically goes like this for the 105s ...

500 yards = 2 mils
600 yards = 3 mils
700 yards = 4 mils
800 yards = 5 mils
900 yards = 6 mils
1000 yards = 7 mils

Easy to remember and doesn't this work really nice for the HDMR with the GAP G2 reticle inside

Makes it nice Doesnt it!!!!

Re: GAP-10 6mm Creedmoor

Sure makes one wicked fast at shooting. That coupled with the extreme accuracy the gun provides makes for a quite deadly combination.

Re: GAP-10 6mm Creedmoor

What is your current lead time on one of these rifles? And is the new switch gas block standard now or is it an option?

What kind of speed are you getting from a bolt gun?

Leadtime is 6-8 weeks currently on Gap 10's that changes frequently as we get LE orders that muck it up somtimes.

In a bolt rifle with a 26 Barrel you could get 3200 easy with the 105's 3000-3050 with the 115's

Re: GAP-10 6mm Creedmoor

That is an excellent looking rifle!

I don't want to dilute your thread so if this question is not germane let me know and I can remove it. That said what is the benefit of the 6mm Creedmoor over the 6.5 Creedmoor? If I were interested in using this rifle for both tactical shooting as well as hunting deer, elk, and hogs which would be the better choice?

Re: GAP-10 6mm Creedmoor

6CM is going to be a touch flatter, higher muzzle velocity, yet shooting a fairly high BC bullet. Punching paper, ringing steel, or shooting 'yotes the 6 CM is an the AR round to run.

Once you throw in hunting, I would opt for the ability to shoot a touch bigger bullet. 6.5 Creedmoor via GAP-10 you could lauch 120 TSX or similar bullet for dropping animals and 130 Bergers for match use.

Re: GAP-10 6mm Creedmoor

Weight of the rifle will be approx 16 pounds rigged out as loaded scoped rifle with bipods.

This one is mine. It would not bother me one iota to hunt any deer or elk or any other North American game animal with this rifle.

I third that notion... It's badass

Looks just like A-TACS

and would work just about anywhere.

Mine is a bolt gun..... it's a lot of fun to shoot those high speeds.

Well with dies Im sure it is one step now....
The initial way was to do 2 steps on 2 different bushings.
