    Starting with a Winny action that we tuned up. Here's the base holes helically bored and thread milled to 8-40 (Woo Hoo! Big thanks to AJ Goddard for giving me the tooling vendor who makes these little buggers!).

    We'll be inletting the Manners stock here shortly.

    Hope to have this ready for delivery by Friday. Zoom Zoom!

    I love this little bugger! Makes base hole locations "Jonny on the spot".

    Receiver work done. Opened to 1.085/16 with a "ringed" receiver face that counterbores the recoil lug. (not sure exactly what terminology to use to describe it.) I'll never be guilty of an original thought. This is how the Dakota Arms model 76 is profiled. I like it so monkey see/do.

    Onto the stock!

    Programming is completed. Aligment jig glued to the stock, and were about to load it and run the primary soon as the superglue cures a bit.

    As with most all of the Winchesters I've ever done, in order to get a really nice presentation on the bedding, some filing, sanding work has to be done first. The tang portion of these receivers is often plagued with tool marks and other inclusions that transfer right into the epoxy. In order to clean this up it takes about an hour of rubbing with various needle files and emery.

    Here's the finished tang. Quick trip to the blast cabinet to make the finish uniform from one end to the other and were set.

    Hold the frickin camera still!! Oh, wait, or is that the Captain Morgan/JWBlack carryover from this weekend! LOL

    Your new paintin shack should be the cats meow there dude. Now you can get real creative with the paint and not paint, sand, paint, sand.
    Squirt the color on, flash it, clear it!

    Oh, Saturdays game was waaaaay better than Fridays. At one point the ice was littered with sticks, gloves and blood. Prolly 15 minutes worth of penalties! But we WON!!

    Here's the bedding right after popping the action. Were diggin it. Looks like the extra hand work on the tang area was worth it.

    awesome. i have been thinking about using a cheap rubbermaid shed for a abrasive blast booth and another for a paint booth.

    the build looks like it is coming along great as usual.

    I have to say this contraption has more than paid for itself already!

    8x8 shed from Suncast.
    2x4 box section steel frame TIG'd up and on big castors that lock down. (both swivel and rotation)
    1x2 steel floor joists on 16" centers
    2 sheets of 4x8x3/4 OSB floor decking glued to the steel
    Glued the floor of the shed to the OSB
    2 box fans inserted into back wall at floor level
    16 florescent lights wired up on a single switch
    Fans wired on another single switch
    Furnace filters placed in the window openenings (at the door) and across both vents up top.

    It's lit up like a tanning bed and works awesome. Barely a wiff of paint anymore in the shop and NO MORE FUNK over everything.

    Cost me around $1300 to build and two days of effort. That included gutting the shop, stripping the floors, scraping paint drippings, cleaning everything, putting it back, and building the shed.

    So worth it. We can breath again!

    A+1 on the Winchesters, I have not looked at or fired the SC ,FN mod 70's but the write ups seem ok, I will never understand the MOA trigger move. I am gonna call and send U a couple mod 70's for barrels and action,stock work in a couple mos. Impressed with your work.

    Chad, how did you restore the texture to the modified areas of the stock. I won't blame you if you don't care to answer.

    I stopped through Longshot Rifles the other day to drop something off and saw that rifle, the owner will be very happy if it shoots as well as it looks.

    Chad's business is Long Rifles Inc. not Longshot. Longshot is having much trouble right now and hate to see that get stuck on Chads name.
