Today (3/10) is the official "date expected in stock" listed on Midway's site. Hopefully someone will have their hands on one of these within the next week. I'm sitting on boxes of ammo, DST begins tomorrow, and it'll be 65+ degrees the rest of the week around these parts. After a month of backorder I'm ready for the brown truck to drop off my new Viper.

HAha I started looking at the pst 4-16 sfp then got "price creep" so I bought 6-24 ffp and couldn't be happier. got two more rifles that need optics and I'm goin with vortex

Brown truck showed up today. My overall impressions of the new Viper HS are very, very good. The scope was boxed up very nicely. Sunshade included. No CRS shims included...not a big deal. Glass is crisp and clear. Magnification works very well. I really like the size of this scope. No Hubble telescope sized objective. Construction is sturdy. Turrets are great. Hope to get out to the range sometime within the next week. Hope these pictures help some of you guys on the fence. Get off the fence, this one is a keeper.

Looks great!!! I was gonna buy another Viper HS 4x16x44LR for my 25/300WSM until I saw this. Gonna place my order early next week if they still have em. Can I buy some shims for the CRS from Vortex? I need a few more for the HS I have now too.

Mtneer how fine are the cross hairs, I saw a vpier mildot last year and they were pretty thick.

Mtneer, What base and rings do you have? I have a EGW 20MOA base and Burris XT low rings. Hopefully this Viper will fit. I plan on getting one also.

1. Shims can be ordered from SWFA and a handful of other places for about $4. If you call Vortex they may sell/give them to you.
2. The crosshairs are similar in size to my SWFA Super Sniper. Definitely not as fine as I've seen. But I prefer them a little thicker...my eyes aren't what that used to be.
3. The base in the picture is a 20moa EGW base and the rings are SWFA low rings (copy of the XTRs) so I would expect you'd be fine with the same/similar setup. I've ordered some TPS low rings that I'm going to swap out next week before I head to the range Tues/Wed. The SWFA rings will go with my Super Sniper 10x42 onto my rimfire trainer.

Wow! this seem like a heck of a deal! For all the people worried about the "wire" reticle, you obviously have never had the pleasure of dealing with Vortex customer service... They will just take care of it period!

Thanks Mtneer. It looks good on top of your Remmy. I just got mine three weeks ago and I've been looking for some good glass for it in a $400-$500 price range. I have the new SWFA SS 16x42 on back order, but its hard to deal with waiting till late June early July to get it. I'm ready to send some down range......

Just got mine from Midway that I ordered last week. Midway's page said it has a ZeroStop (CRS), but mine didn't come with the shims. They shouldn't be advertising these as having the CRS ZS if they don't include them.

Glad everyone is getting their scopes! Mine is now in Hawaii. sure is the long way to get to Ca. from Missouri...Midway says they wait 15 buiness day before any action. Hurry up and wait.

Just ordered one today! After hearing all of the good things that people have to say about Vortex I decided this should fit well on my new sps varmint. Looks like a great scope for the price and can't wait til its here!

How thick is the reticle on this scope? I am considering getting one but I am concerned about reticle thickness. I used to own another of the Midway exclusive mil/mil scopes - the 3-10x40 Weaver Tactical Grand Slam - but I got rid of it in part because I found the reticle to be much too thick.

Also, is the mil dot reticle calibrated to be used at 15x? And at what magnifications are there indicators for on the power adjustment ring? Than you for the help.

I ordered one of these yesterday, so should have it by the middle of the week. I'm slowly switching everything over to mil adjustments and this seems to be a good mix of features, power range, and price. I'll put it on a .260 that gets shot out to 1k yards pretty regularly.

Oooh, now that makes it much more interesting... I was thinking $500 for the Vortex vs. $675 for the Weaver 3-15, but now... or buy both!

I received my scope last Wednesday, 2 days ahead of the projected checkout estimated delivery. Other than a couple minor issues, VERY stiff power ring and no shims for the zero stop, I am very happy. The power ring has loosened slightly with working, and will be calling the toll free tomorrow for shims.

If there are any fence sitters, NOW is the time to jump. I just checked the Midway page and the scope is now $100 off till 4-30-12, making it only $399.99. I just wonder if Midway would reciprocate on the sale amount like some companies do? Regardless, I am very happy with this scope.

The discount codes only work on regular priced items, not sale items.

The page for the scope now has a note on the bottom of the page that the shims are missing and will be sent to everyone that has bought one of the scopes as soon as they arrive from Vortex.

I have been following and debating back and forth on my newest glass. I have been waiting for a long time to get the Mil version of the SS Line of scopes from SWFA, or the Vortex.

In the midst of waiting, Midway comes out with this one. While this would have been a good scope deal to begin with at the regular price, there was no way that I could pass this one up for $100 off... So I now have one on the way!!

I am pretty excited about this one, and I can't hardly wait to get her mounted and bust some more prairie dogs with the super clear glass that Vortex is known for... I am stoked!!

Anyone put caps on these? what size butler creek or weaver polar caps fit? I know sometimes the weavers run bigger and smaller.
