Hey there guys,

I recently acquired a Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308 Win and it came with an optics package that is being immediately replaced (CounterSniper Crusader 3-9x42 hahahaha). I can't find any identifying marks on the Weaver base that is currently on the rifle. The only marking other than Weaver and Made in USA is the number 439. Anyone know which mount this is?

This is the first real question that I've had to ask thanks to the Search feature and the incredible encyclopedia of knowledge you guys have created.

In case you're wondering, I'm going with a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP W/ Ebr-1 MRAD Reticle and either Badger Ordnance or Seekins Precision Medium rings (based on about 40 hours worth of reading every article the search function brought up haha). I would appreciate any input you might have if you see something off with my choices mentioned above.

Any help you guys could offer in identifying this base would be much appreciated. This is my first leap into long range shooting and I want to make damn sure that I do it right the first time. Being Active Duty Army means tight budget so wasting cash is not an option.

Re: Need help identifying a Weaver Mount

I am not quite sure what you are asking. You allready know its a Weaver so, are you thinking of replacing it or what? Is it a one piece rail mount or two piece? Are you wanting a 20 MOA base instead? Are you not wanting aluminum and wanting to trade it out for steel?

Re: Need help identifying a Weaver Mount

It's a one piece rail mount. I'm just trying to figure out exactly which model mount it is so I can figure out if I'd be better off replacing it with something else.

Re: Need help identifying a Weaver Mount

You don't need to know anything. It will work fine. Put on the scope of your choice and shoot. If it bothers you it isn't an uber expensive one, buy one. I guess we don't understand the worry, and you didn't answer any of Zebras questions.

Re: Need help identifying a Weaver Mount

Nevermind then. All I was looking for is the specs on it since my digital caliper came destroyed due to crappy packing from the seller and I can't find the specs anywhere online.

Who would've thought such a simple question would've been such an inconvenience. I guess wanting to know exactly what hardware is on my rifle is none of my business.

What's with the secret? Just post a picture. I'm guessing it model 439

Listen, you asked for the info on a rail after you gave us the manufacture and model number. You did not ask if it was of good quality or if it was a canted base being 20 moa or not. We ( Snipershide Members ) have no issues about helping people out this is a place to learn, but opened questions are posted such as yours was thats why we ask the questions, so that we can give you the right answer. If you would have formed the question something like this.

Hey I have this mount on a Remy .700 .308. I am putting a Vortex PST on it, and I plan on shooting X amount of distance with it, should I change it out or keep it as is? I am on a limited budget for a build and can anyone give me the measurement / dimensions for it or tell me where to find it.
See the diference, and thanks for your military serivce be safe.

Re: Need help identifying a Weaver Mount

Everyone read way deeper into the question. I was specifically asking if anyone had the specs on the Weaver 439 marked base. All of the questions you mentioned above were easily answered with the search box which is why I didn't ask them.

The question was phrased as simple and clear as possible. Everyone else just assumed that I meant something else.

It's a moot point now anyway since the only place this Weaver 439 rail exists is on top of my rifle it's being replaced by a Seekins 20 MOA base. Weaver couldn't even reference a 439 in their product make up.

Re: Need help identifying a Weaver Mount

I'm not trying to be a dick...but WHAT specs do you want? It's a weaver base...it fits on your rifle...it will take rings for a weaver rail... What other information is there to acquire?

It's weaver, not NCstar, it'll work well. Not being made of money either, darn near every rifle I've ever had has had weaver bases. Yes others are probably "better", but to me it's one of those things where I've always used them, they've always worked, and they are inexpensive, so why change. However, I do not compete in comps or what not, or do anything ridiculous with my rifles.

Weaver makes aluminum (which is what you have) and steel bases, but there's no different quality grades among them. Just steal, or alum. There's nothing wrong with aluminum on a .308.

Re: Need help identifying a Weaver Mount

pdogs said what I was saying. You didn't need to know anything, just use it. There really no "specs" to find. It's a Weaver base. Put a scope on it. That's all. It kind of sounded like you were looking for an excuse to replace it, and you did. No biggy.

I have a brand new one in the package. It is a Weaver 99500. I ordered mine for my Remington 40X.
You had a very clear and simple question.
