Hey there guys,
I recently acquired a Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308 Win and it came with an optics package that is being immediately replaced (CounterSniper Crusader 3-9x42 hahahaha). I can't find any identifying marks on the Weaver base that is currently on the rifle. The only marking other than Weaver and Made in USA is the number 439. Anyone know which mount this is?
This is the first real question that I've had to ask thanks to the Search feature and the incredible encyclopedia of knowledge you guys have created.
In case you're wondering, I'm going with a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP W/ Ebr-1 MRAD Reticle and either Badger Ordnance or Seekins Precision Medium rings (based on about 40 hours worth of reading every article the search function brought up haha). I would appreciate any input you might have if you see something off with my choices mentioned above.
Any help you guys could offer in identifying this base would be much appreciated. This is my first leap into long range shooting and I want to make damn sure that I do it right the first time. Being Active Duty Army means tight budget so wasting cash is not an option.
