I sold my PVS-14 night enforcer knowing I wanted to get a set of dual tube nods. I'm debating whether or not to get 2 PVS-14 night enforcers and using a bridge mount which will give me some more versatility and just now I had another idea, which is dangerous, PVS-14 and save up a bit more and get a PVS-24 to go with the 14...

What say you? Should I stick with my original plans and get the BNVD, dual PVS-14s, or PVS-14 and PVS-24?

Not sure what your requirements are, and what is priority...For hunting, having the ability to scan for targets with your 14 on your melon, flip up and then go to your rifle scope is serious business that is VERY practical.

Add an IR laser to your gun with that 24 and you now have the best of 3 tactical worlds of CQB, short and med/quasi long range possibilities.

The benefit of an added 2nd monoc is not near a leap vs. having these added tools for your tool box by getting a 24 and IR laser IMHO, BUT I do not know your main objectives here.

Hope this helps.

Re: What would you do?

I was planning on running the Pvs 24 on a 20" gun im building up which has a USO 1.8-10. Unfortunately it wouldn't fit on my 16" gun with short dot due to the peq2 taking up most of the top rail.

Have you used the Pvs-24 non lr with something up to 8 power?
Thans for the advise

I use the PVS-24 in front of a Leupold 2.5 to 8 but at 8 (really 8.9 Power) I am stretching it's limits, but then again the last Coyote I shot was face on and I had it cranked all the way up in quarter moon conditions. I put the round right through the animals open mouth (DRT) at 104 yards (I measured) and the Pelt was PERFECT ! ! !

With the new batch of 34 mm 1 to 6 power scopes coming out the PVS 24 is going to find a niche like no other here very shortly, Mark, My, Words, there.

Now if you want to take advantage of the 10 power USO scope you might want to consider the PVS 22/BNS it will be sharper at 10X than the 24 will be. Not perfect but a little better. Now it's heavier buy a good bit so factor that in to your decision making process as well.

In your case the PVS 14 / Clip on of Choice, combo will be very versatile indeed. With one 14 you will have observation capabilities and you can add a second 14 later for your dual tube desires. Also matching 14s isn't a huge deal for us. We have Hoffman(s) And the Hughes Test Set(s) so we can tweek the gain EXACTLY! In addition to that, we even put the two 14s into the mount, witness mark them for rotational position and then, mark them left and right

and, And, AND

fully COLlIMATE THEM ! ! ! That is a new service we are now offering.

So my vote is go with the Clip on and the 14.

Re: What would you do?

Is this going to be for hunting?

I have and hunt with both set ups you mention. Here are my thoughts on how the systems work out in the field. I have both a pvs-14 and a dual mum set up along with a pvs-24 and a d-760. My primary set up used to be a 14 helmet mounted with the 760 weapon mounted. I couldn't tell you the exact number of pigs that have fallen to that rig. I usually shoot 150-200 a year with nods. It is a great set up imo and is the most cost effective of your choices.

Eventually I went with a dual mono set up which I LOVE to hunt with! The reason being is that I'm usually in a huntve or a ranger driving much of the night before we make a stalk. The dual tube set up gives me less eye fatigue and gives greater depth perception while in the woods. Using this set up I usually throw my 24 in front of my 1.5x5.5 leu vx3. Most of the time the scope doesn't go above 3x. Its great for the stalks where I can crank the power down to 2x or so for movers once the first shot is fired. Very versatile system that works well. However, the 24's image is not near as good as the dedicated scope. In dark environments such as river bottoms the 24 struggles while the 760 has no issues. Both tubes are 27+ on S/N.

I agree with what Vic said on the importance of dual vs. single. IMO for a hunting rig its much more beneficial to have a weapon sight pared with a mono. Then just having dual tubes. Hunt with your mono like you would hunting in the day time then when you spot your target flip it up and go to weapon sight. Adding a IR laser just makes the set up that much better for targets that don't give you time to go to your dedicated weapon sight.

Re: What would you do?

The guys above have added some great info to this post I pretty much agree with what has been written so far. I am a hunter myself not a tactical guy I like lite-weight setups and everything needs to be simple, fast, and quiet to use in the night. At night hunting one out of place noise or movement can send a coyote into high gear and he's gone, gone, gone.A head mounted IR laser/PVS-14 setup is hard to beat for close to mid range shooting my favorite do to lite-weight and speed of getting shot/shots off and scanning around you ability. Next adding a NV scope to the system helps you accuracy wise and gives you even more range like stated about flip your 14 up, go to scope and bamm! I also hang a PS32 thermal around my neck I can flip the 14 up and thermal scan thats far more useful for me than adding the NV scope as the thermal spots critter very easy and fast.A 3X afocal also helps a ton for mid range shooting with the 14 I use the slip on adapter to
