As I walked down to set up the target and back I checked spots with my wind meter and had a low of 10mph wind with gust up to 30mph from 3oclock. Once behind the rifle my only signs were natural tall grass and the wind its self. I had no wind markers set up. Scope is a fixed 10x sightron and it was to cool out to pick up marrage when focoused at 1000y.

So here is my target anyway and I think for the most part i did pretty good at calling the wind for how much it was shifting! the top 4 rounds half to be the first few shots, I though I was a little high so I dropped 2 clicks. At that range with a 10x power scope you can not see exactly where ur hitting. just an idea from spash.

The little 3 round group on the left was most likley fluke how tight it is. bad wind call.

* wind aim off was from 1-4 mils *

Edit - rifle is a custom 6xc and the circle is 6"

Walking 2,000yds to set up the target and shoot sounds like alot of wasted time, I feel for you and it's too bad the link doesn't just show up in the thread. How big was the steel and how thick is it? Not bad shooting from the looks of it

Re: 1000y target in tuff wind.

The one thing about long range..... Friggen far away targets. Ya know what I do, bring my .22 with me for the long walk.

I've shot much better @ 1000y but yesterday was interesting just due to how spuratic windy it was. 10mph one second, 30 the next. We're talking roughly 60" of bullet wind drift from one to the other.

6"circle do the target looks to be maby 18" ? Fairly thin stuff.

A 6 inch circle at 1000 yards in 30mph winds=Good Shooting!

yes wind is a real toughie and not sure anyone can do better than what you did.
