i just ran across this:

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/heres-the-worlds-smallest-45-concealed-carry-pistol/

http://heizerfirearms.com/

Now, after viewing they're little video about the pistol, i can't figure how it fires sequentially.... it appears that the hammer strikes both firing pins simultaneously.... Am i wrong here? I can't imagine what it'd be like to shoot that thing in .45 acp. But after looking at the spec's the aluminum version is a half ounce heavier than the Ruger LCR unloaded. Even then once you figure in ammo weight and the 2 in the grip it's still going to be heavier than the 5 shot LCR..... Just my thoughts. I'd still shoot it given an opportunity out of curiosity sake though.

Re: 'small' 45

When asked whether the Semmerling LM4 could be produced in a automatic version, instead of the manual version, the designer summed it up to me as follows;

"The Army came to me and asked if I could produce a version of the LM4 in a fully articulated semi-auto variant with a threaded barrel and suppressor. I told them of course and reminded them that the LM4 at 3.7" long and 3" tall was a fistful for any person to fire. They insisted that they wanted a semi version and we proceeded with the contract that resulted in the XLM, the smallest .45 automatic ever produced. It operated perfectly, using a rare barrel friction stripping design. That small .45, at .8" thick and weighing 19ozs was a lesson in physics for any man that pulled the trigger. All the recoil normally absorbed by the larger .45 frames was now instantly transfered to the hand of the firer. No man wanted to use them for anything else than the business at hand. I reminded them that I had told them...no one escapes the physics."

Now this new rig is 40% less weight, and, while longer than the LM4, appears to be shorter in height, just where you want more fingers to be. The ported version starts tapping right at the head of the pipe, making the spit and noise a one time event. One word.....painful.

It fires sequentially, one round at a time. Be thankful.

For non semi, they once got smaller still..
