come on guys, somebody has purchased a white oak complete upper and has had success with some lower receiver that mated well with this particular upper.
I was in the army 20 years ago that was the last time i touched a ar rifle. and I dont know anything about building one. just trying to purchase the correct receiver the first time. and of course they are all mil spec. but im sure some are more mil spec than others.

I personally don't care if there is a gap or not. And if I did care, I'd buy an Accuwedge.
Like the previous poster said it's a crapshoot. I promise you there is variation from run to run of a given receiver.
Just buy one.

From my own personal experience...owning C3 Defense, Sun Devil, and Seekins...which are all billet lowers. They seem to have the tightest upper to lower fit then forged lowers. YMMV.
Plus those mentioned have a tension screw to remove any play between the two. Most billet lowers now days seem to have that feature.

I am not an expert on building AR's but have fooled with them a little.
I have heard that many builders just go to a bin and try to find one that is close then fit it. That is out for most of us as we have no bin.
So, I would start by asking WO what they reccomend. Then if you can go in person try to do so. You might also consider sending it for a basic check then purchase. IOW, let the seller go through the bin. Just some thoughts.

lol guys. Have not heard of this ATM "Chili Cookoff" version, OP should try and post full AAR. Make sure it's properly bedded..
Seriously, any lower without manufacturing defects will work just fine. I've had good luck with DTI. The lower receiver is about .005% of the rifle's accuracy.

Go for a Mega or Rainier (made by Mega). I have one and it is top quality for a forged lower and has a tension screw if wiggle bothers you.

i have a white oak varmint upper on a bushmaster lower. i say it was a perfect fit, no slop at all

We are a "manufacturer" according to the ATF which in reality doesn't mean much. We do just like what most big name manufacturers do and use other people's parts, because in reality, ther are very few actual manufacturer's out there who make all of their own parts. If you ever go somewhere like FN in South Carolina you will see they are making parts for HK. At the same time they don't make all of the parts for their own rifles.
That being said, not all parts (even mil spec) are the same. We use a lot of Rock River receivers and have great luck with tight fits. We also use a lot of Delton and Armalite and I actually prefer the Delton. I have also tried out Palmetto State Armory with horrible results. Plus crazy as someone jokingly suggested does not claim to be mil spec and I wouldn't assemble a kids toy gun with one. We have had some Spike's on order for a few months, but have yet to see them so I can't speak on them... Stag is ok, but I won't build precision builds with them. Any of the billet receivers bgbmboo recommended are good,though I haven't mated a billet lower with a forged upper before...

Try a Larue lower with a Viltor upper...Very tight fit and excellent quality!

I've got a few WOA uppers with various lowers on them and they all work just fine. I generally just grab whatever lower I have laying around and use it unless it's just too loose or tight. RRA is always a solid bet. If you intend to shoot any CMP/NRA Service Rifle competitions, make sure you get a standard lower. Stuff like a Mega "Gator" or POF lowers with right side bolt release(just to name a couple of examples that come to mind) will disqualify your rifle from CMP competition and will make your rifle into a "Match Rifle"by NRA standards. I only mention this because most people buying WOA's Service Rifle uppers do so to shoot Highpower, don't know if that's the case with you or not.
If you are shooting NRA matches and don't care what class your rifle falls into, the POF lowers(or others with integral right-side bolt release) are a huge advantage for slow-fire stages, particularly slow prone.

Put a strip of electrical tape underneath the rear lug on your upper receiver, voila no more wiggle.

I have a Firebird on a service rifle and it works well. It was tight from the beginning but it has an accessible screw to lock the upper to the lower. Works well.

Since we are talking about taking away play... My favorite technique is to take a small rubber o-ring and put it around the upper receiver (Mostly on the front pivot point) as it fits into the lower. Play around with different sizes depending on play. This has worked great...
