I have acquired a Larue spotr through a couple of crafty trades, but Ive come to realize Im never going to buy the optics to attach to it. My question is, since larue only sells these things to LEO and Military, can I post this thing for sale? Or is it against some kind of regulations?

Re: Question

That doesnt really help me. Im talking general legality. I have no plans to sell it here anyway, so I dont care about the forum rules. I want to make sure that if I throw this thing up on ebay or gunbroker Im not going to get in some sort of trouble

Re: Question

I don't think he can post it for sale here as he has less then 100 posts.

Re: Question

Let me clarify. I am not offering it for sale here. I am asking if I were to take it somewhere to sell it, would that fall under any restrictions that would not allow me to sell the kit?

my next guess was going to be Alabama. Put it for sale on GB and done. Ship it to a ffl and wear a tin hat while transporting it for shipping.

Re: Question

It's just a tripod and some rails, why should he be worried about selling it?

That was my thought. But since Larue only sells these to military and LEO, I didnt know if there was any issues with me selling it myself

Re: Question

I dont know why you would have an issue, they probably just dont want to deal with the public on this iteam since its a little more for specialized aplications, any machine shop could make rail and a tripod adapter in a hear beat i would think

Re: Question

you could even call Larue and ask them about if there are any regulations on them as to why you couldnt have one or sell it

Re: Question

You can sell it just fine. It's not like it's any type of weapon that would be subject to BATFE regulations. Like was said above, it's just some metal work.
If you're REALLY concerned, you could write up a bill of sale that lists the item as "scrap metal" and make it very clear that you have no idea what you're selling. Ignorance is not an excuse from the law, but it's going to be subjective if it ever does become an issue for you. Although I don't think that it ever would.
Just because LaRue has chosen to limit their market, doesn't mean you're required to.
I worked supply for the military and we used to DRMO (sell) a bunch of "military only" stuff. Weapons had to be de-militarized, refrigerators had to be certified free of refrigerant, and hard drives had to be fragged. Other than that, we sold every damn thing to the general population.
