Any experience with this combo, .308, 175 gr. (also 168 AMAX), bought the match burner because the fun shop was sold out of the AMAX.
or .223, 75 gr.

First time with the chrograph

Load info
AR10 SS 20 inch barrel
LC match Brass, uniform trim and prep.
175 Gr Barnes Match Burner
CCI #34 primer
PP2000MR
OAL 2.792 to 2.798, (uneven tip length)

Load, avg velocity, SD
46.1, 2556 , 37
46.5, 2595, 13
46.9, 2611, 13
47.3, 2624, 13
47.7, 2649, 9

Best group at 46.9, no pressure signs
As a comparison same primer and brass, 168 Hornady HPBT, 43Gr. R15, 2520 avg vel, 14 SD
What is this info telling me to do next? Step powder up, finer increment OCW test?, or start working on the seating depth? not finding the accuracy I was looking for yet.

Anyone else have any experience with this powder or bullet?

Re: Barnes Match Burner + PP2000MR?

I've shot a box of the 175gr match burners. I intend to try the 2000MR, but I haven't yet. I can say that they worked good out a 1/10 twist savage with 45gr of varget (46gr with 168 amax). i'm using Lapua palma brass with cci b4 primers. They were loaded .01" off the lands. I don't think I'm going to use the match burners anymore because the Hornady 178gr bthp work just as good and are a bit cheaper. Hope this helps. You might be the first one to use them with 2000MR. I'm curious to see how fast they go.

Re: Barnes Match Burner + PP2000MR ?

Thanks for the feedback, the Barnes were the same price as teh Hornady at my fun store, and somewhat cheaper than the Sierras

Anyone else have experience with these new bullets? or the PP2000MR powder?

Re: Barnes Match Burner + PP2000MR?

Ok
Barnes referred me to the Sierra 175 grainload data, I have four loaded at each increment,47.7 to 46.1 in 0.4 gr increment.
My plan is to shoot Fri AM, using the chrograph ( weather permitting). checking for pressure, velocity and groups. 200 yards.

Any holes in my plan?

Report Fri afternoon, unless someone has a better idea.

Their is not much information around on what your doing. I'm interested in what you discover.

Re: Barnes Match Burner + PP2000MR?

I've been trying the 175 BMB in my 10FP 308 with good results w/ Varget. They shoot as well as 175 SMKs with a better BC, for quite a bit less $$. Haven't stretched their legs yet though. My Savage doesn't like Amax, and it doesn't like anything lighter than 175s.

Re: .308 Barnes Match Burner + PP2000MR? Range report

I use 47.5 grains and 175 smk's, 2700+fps out of a 24" barrel. No pressure signs. Great accuracy. You can also do a search on Hodgon cfe 223. Same powder produced by General Dynamic from the St. Marks Plant in FL. sold to Alliant and Hodgon.

Ok, has anyone else used this powder and bullet combination?

Re: .308 Barnes Match Burner + PP2000MR? Range report

Back in 2-12-12, 50deg F, I tested this bullet/powder combo at 100yds in a 27" 5r Rock barreled Rem700 and got these results: 46.7gr 2770 2769 2768 2778 2766 2781,.96" group. 47.1gr 2771 2777 2759,.46" group. 47.3gr 2785 2780 2777,1.12" group. 47.5gr 2786 2798 2784,.68" group. 47.7gr 2796 2808 2807, 1.26" group. Last loading showed mild primer cratering. I settled on 46.5gr 2000mr with 190gr SMK at 2730 fps, consistently under .75moa . All groups seemed to open up a little in hot weather with this powder. Brass is Fed, cciBR2 primer, 2.790" oal.
