Anybody running the High Speed Gear pistol/rifle mag pouches on there vest? If so what do you think about them? I'm looking at going with these or possibly ITW Fastmag pouches, but looking for opinions. Pro's and Con's would be helpful. If you run the Fastmag setup, then opinions on those as well or even better if you have experience with both, which did you stick with?

Thanks, Jason

Re: High speed gear?

The Taco is a great piece of gear. I like that they'll fit M4 & SR25 mags. There's a group buy going on right now.

Cons - they're a pain to install but that's about it.

Re: High speed gear?

I've used the TACOs in Afghanistan and they are good to go. Admittedly they are the ultimate test of patience putting them on, but otherwise very nice otherwise.

One word of advice though, and this applies to all open top magazine pouches, be careful if you find yourself inverted or putting yourself in a position where the magazines may fall out. You can only adjust each so much.

Re: High speed gear?

taco's are probably the best mag pouches on the market
not only are they quick for reloads, but they accept a variety of magazine sizes.
you can now run one rig for multiple rifle platforms

Re: High speed gear?

I was just at a school where the were some guys running these and they seemed to perform very well! We didn't get upside-down though I was curious about the retention if a person was involved in a physical altercation or did happen to get upside-down. I'm pretty sure the taco is what I want to run on my raid vest, but wanted some feedback on em from folks who have actually used em. Thanks a lot for the info guys. I'm still researching these and others, but the taco is still on top in my opinion.

This. I can run my M6A2, my FAL, my SCAR17s and my AK74 without having to transport and change different rigs. Same deal with the pistol magazines.

Re: High speed gear?

I use an HSGI battle belt and tacos. I use the stacked rifle/pistol mag combos and they work for any pistol and rifle I own. The best part about the tacos is they make the belt (or your vest) versatile for everything I shoot and the mags are always in the same place vs switching from belt to chest rig, etc. for different guns.

Re: High speed gear?

I like the tacos but I think the fastmags out do just about anything on the market. Holds your magazines regardless of angle. I mount mine upside down so no magazine flip needed for a quick reload. Fastmags are twice as fast as tacos. While both work and I think both have a place the fastmags are a better proven choice.

Re: High speed gear?

Strangedays....that's the kind of feedback I was hoping to get. I wondered about that ability for these setups. The fastmag and tacos are still atop of my list and that feature may get them the bid! Not sure yet, plus I got to get approval from the chief for either!
