Warning Shot ... update

Re: Warning Shot ...

That was a pretty cool video...I know must of us when we watch that video think of much better weapons to use on the pirates to spruce up security a tad. I would like to see a 16-18" LWRC REPR with an 1.8 x 10 Optic on it. More precise dealing with the pirates. I could think of a lot more but...I guess an AR-15 does it too.

Re: Warning Shot ...

You'd think some enterprising individual would lease a big ship and sell "safaris" over in those waters. No size or bag limits. I know several individuals who would pay handsomely for the opportunity to help clear off some of those pirates.

Re: Warning Shot ...

Cool video but holy shit are we slow learners. Should have been doing this 40 years ago.

It'd be damn good practice. I liked the Russian way of dealing with it.

Is that legal in international waters? I do kow it used to be legal to hunt pirates, but in this day and age of wringing hands, and weak spines...

Re: Warning Shot ...

I'm in!!!!!

And at the same time,,,,, if/when this is accomplished at night,,,, is it still called "Jacklighting"?

Varmint hunting. No bag limit. No season ending. I ain't able to do much, but I definitely CAN help society in this endeavor!

Re: Warning Shot ...

That is definitely the way to be in a firefight... 100ft above the enemy, raining down lead from behind sandbags (at least it looked like them) while they are unprotected...Shit yeah!

Re: Warning Shot ...

While I heard the order to give them a warning shot, I never heard the order to get serious. All of those rounds, couldn't have been warning shots?! I'm surprised that after the first rounds were fired that a second boat came in. Would have thought that they'd have picked easier prey.

Re: Warning Shot ...

The fact that no body has taken action on these idiots at their front door just amazes me. There is one ship and crew that has been held captave for 2 years.. nobody even knows if they are still alive. And several others. Shipping companys have paid many millions in ransom and some have just left 'em there.
Some countries escort a few ships but the pirates just operate further offshore and they cant escort every ship.
And this goes on allmost daily...

EASY Pickins . The pirates pretty much KNOW where everyone is @ . & who the corporate owners are & after while know what Corp. & Insurance Co. pay the best . Plus the majority of all cargo freighters out there are totally unarmed for maybe the Master having a sidearm locked-up . For the most part all freighters are built almost identical is design & layout . The working head count on the freighters are usually around 22 to 30 Crew . Masters & his officers are usually pretty tight but the crew/workers are sub-contracted & hired-out from all over for the lowest bid .
.

Re: Warning Shot ...

Wow. Pretty cool. I always envisioned in my mind they were in bigger boats.

They drove into my bullets.

I also think center mass hits would work pretty well. Maybe others would think about doing this if they stood a good chance of getting killed.

Re: Warning Shot ...

I would think something scoped would be nice in addition to a AR.

Sounds like fun work. Summer job posting somewhere?

I would be willing to bet some of us wouldn't charge a dime and bring our own ammo.

Re: Warning Shot ...

Merchant ships and their crews are prohibited by maritime law from carrying firearms. Port enforcement and seagoing patrols (including our own Coast Guard) frequently board and search vessels in efforts to enforce these mandates.

This piracy issue is a stellar demonstration of the ultimate consequences resulting from disarming law abiding civilians; something our own legislators are well aware of but don't have the stones to discuss in public.

Armed merchant vessels?

Not in international waters. It is the country whos port they are in or in their teratorial waters that prohibit firearms, and company policy.

Re: Warning Shot ...

I love how they were all like, WARNING SHOTS, and proceeded to lay the fuck into them with everything they had,...for like 5mins too long, lol.

But I say, fuck it. If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing.

Oh and btw, I would definitely sign up for that safari.

Re: Warning Shot ...

Back in the day, the shipping lines didn't arm the crews because a) most of them don't even speak a common language, let alone know anything about firearms, and b) they were afraid of professionals due to liability issues. That may have changed since the Somalis started jacking ships, but anybody who goes into that stretch of water, or the Straits of Malacca, in a pleasure craft without arming themselves to the teeth is just asking for big trouble.

Re: Warning Shot ...

Since it is being recorded, saying "Warning shot" before opening up with everything is like a cop saying "Stop resisting, stop resisting" while he is pummeling someone with his stick. It sort of CYA. Sort of.
Anyway, I would do this for a summer for free ammo. Hell, I'd bring my own ammo. but I gotta tell you, 5.56 isn't going to get it. I think a couple of Barrets, and something in 308 to keep them at a distance would be better. Those somalis COULD have launched an RPG at the bridge at that range. And pallets? How about some sand bags?
These guys half-assed this job, and got lucky.

Re: Warning Shot ... update

Good job.

I would have preferred an M14 but it looks like they got the job done with the 556s.
