Heard a rumor from a very reliable source the new NF FFP scope will be released in May. Didn't get any other details other than MAP would be around $3,200. Anybody heard anything else?

Don't know which one they are releasing as there is more than one... at the price point noted above seems more "beast" like than the NXS version but you never know... it could be just the NXS version, or the full blown one.

I respect NF's business decision to keep certain information private until they are ready to release it publicly. It is there effective business decisions in years past that has helped them become of the leaders in optics today, so I'm behind them!! NF, keep up the anticipation, deliver us a great product, rake in some cash you so can re-invest in R&D, and then give us more great products!!! PS I would like to see a NF spotting scope...

I like the fact that NF is closed lipped about it.
They wait and test to make sure it is right before releasing it.
Unlike a certain company that missed the projected release date significantly, rushed the product out then had further delays to fix an issue (even though the issue was not really detrimental)

The Nightforce booth was a bit of a bummer at Shot this year. I was hoping to see at least a prototype of the high power ffp scope if not the final version. All they had to show was their new MOAR reticle. Not a bad reticle, is has fine hash marks, every 1 MOA. I prefer marks every 1 MOA as it makes range estimation much finer and easier for a person accustomed to reading the finest gradation and making one additional guess digit. Remember significant figures in high school science class?
Now for some total speculation (really, I have no inside track here.) I would be very surprised to see the new scope before Q4 of 2012. If they had a final gen (same as production) prototype I would have expected them to show it and think it would have been very unwise not to. S&B, PR, USO, and even Leupold have all showed prototypes that were not even final gen. I didn't even do a Shot Show write up for Nightforce this year because there really wasn't anything to say.
Perhaps threads like this create the buzz they are looking for, but I tend to think that a thread with some actual pics of a prototype and some information would create more action. I think that SWFA defined masterful PR with the roll out of their 1-4x line. They had here and AR-15.com buzzing for months about a mil hash reticle 1-4x scope that, I suspect, is made by Light Optic. A quality product to be sure, but not an earth-shattering leap forward in rifle scope design.

NF has never been known to show the public any prototype scope, to include the F1 in the early stages. Forget the fact several of us have seen the scopes, because not "everyone" has, it must be buzz only.
But hey run with it, if you're interested I am open to taking a 4th Qtr bet versus the May speculation for an unveiling.
Most of you are overlooking the fact a lot changed at NF in the last few months, so those changes are just slow to trickle down. And the fact more and more of their offerings are coming online with the "Made in USA" label which also has changed the game a bit.

I would be happy to see an F2 i.e an 5.5-20x50 FFP from nightforce to rival the Premier Light Tactical et al. But with more mag. If you can't see it you can't hit it...
S&B have recently lost a distributor in the UK and any orders direct from Europe are quoted at over 3 months plus. I don't see the 3-20x50 hitting the civy market in the near future. A $34 Million US Govt contract will be around 380 scopes a week for the next 12 months.

I talked to NF the other day on the phone they said they are working hard on this scope and it should be out this year. They said it will be around 5-25X it might have adjustable illumination too. Cant wait to see it.

I think NF is smart for creating such a frenzy for a Vortex Razor that says NF on it.
On a serious note thier tactic is obviously working, as 99% of the members here are very interested in seeing it. Most of those members, me included, don't even have the funds to buy it.

I think NF is smart for creating such a frenzy for a Vortex Razor that says NF on it.
On a serious note thier tactic is obviously working, as 99% of the members here are very interested in seeing it. Most of those members, me included, don't even have the funds to buy it.

NF hasn't created a 'frenzy'; it sounds like they've been trying to keep it behind the scenes without any marketing or advertisement. To blame them for 'dropping the ball' or creating a 'frenzy' is simply wrong because they've done no such thing. The only thing you guys can blame NF for is not rushing a scope into production.

Perhaps threads like this create the buzz they are looking for, but I tend to think that a thread with some actual pics of a prototype and some information would create more action. I think that SWFA defined masterful PR with the roll out of their 1-4x line. They had here and AR-15.com buzzing for months about a mil hash reticle 1-4x scope that, I suspect, is made by Light Optic. A quality product to be sure, but not an earth-shattering leap forward in rifle scope design.</div></div>

NF has never been known to show the public any prototype scope, to include the F1 in the early stages. Forget the fact several of us have seen the scopes, because not "everyone" has, it must be buzz only.
But hey run with it, if you're interested I am open to taking a 4th Qtr bet versus the May speculation for an unveiling.
Most of you are overlooking the fact a lot changed at NF in the last few months, so those changes are just slow to trickle down. And the fact more and more of their offerings are coming online with the "Made in USA" label which also has changed the game a bit. </div></div>
When I talked with our NF sales rep at SHOT I asked him about the 'Beast' and his impressions of it. The answer was basically, "I haven't been told much about it, and they haven't even let me see it yet - half of us in the company haven't seen it, and only a handful of outsiders like Frank".
On the delivery side of things, it does seem like they're getting at least slightly better at delivering on time or faster, and I've also been told to expect the MOAR in the June/July timeframe. We'll see what happens...

I'm really eager to see a good solid 5-25x scope with their MOAR reticle. I think their MOAR reticle is a step up and I am somewhat of a magnification whore. Glass doesn't have to be the beast. I'd just like to see something come out from them that has some more magnification. I'm very eager to see what awaits the shooting community.

Not to rain on the parade, but for that price ($3200 according to one post), why not just go with the Premier or add a little more and get a Schmidt and Bender? From what I've read (never personally witnessed though), the Premier & S&B glass are in another league, & both have a 5-25 offering. Plus no wait time.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still undecided about which 5-25 to get, but what does NF bring to the table that Premier & S&B don't?
