Has anyone crunched the number on a 416-408 cheytac or snipetac? With hornady 's new 416 450 gr. High BC BTHP it could be interesting and not having to build or buy a new rifle someone could build a switch barrel on a existing 408 cheytac chassis. Or was that bullet designed specific for the Barrett folks.

416 is derived from a 50bmg case, a 408 is based on a 505 gibbs case... two different action types.

Yes sir I know that Barrett chambers a 416 off of the 50bmg case, my question was has anyone every built a wild cat with the new hornaday 416 HPBT or any high BC solid in 416 cal. off of the cheytac case. The reason I ask is I am building a 375 ct. and down the road in a year or three it might be nice to build a switch barrel on the same chassis to help keep costs down.

Stay with the 375. If you necked it up to 416, you would be heading south due to not having case capacity to push the 416.
