I don't need a whole kit as I already have the 308 kit, but I would do it if it includes barrels only (which I bet it does since they're probably just concerned with lathe setup time). If so, we are 2/5.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

A couple of us in SLC, UT are interested. PM me if you are interested in a 6.5 Creedmoor SRS barrel or Conversion and I will work on making this happen.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

Does anyone in the Illinois or Missouri area have one that would willing to let me try a few rounds to see how I like it? I am really want one but I don't want to spend that kind of money to figure out that I don't like the way it fits me.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

I emailed them a few weeks about the same thing. I would buy a Creedmoor barrel if you do a group buy.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

Can someone tell me what Cerakote tan color best matches the DTA SRS Tan chassis plastic (what color does DTA use)? I have a tan SRS with black receiver/handguard and I am thinking about having it Cerakoted to be like the tan/tan models that DTA sells now.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

We us FDE Cerakote but you have to watch the bake time and that heat is distributed evenly because it can come out many different shades if your not careful.

We will do single barrels for the Creedmoor group buy yes.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

Hi all!

Shopping for a new rifle and settled on the DTA SRS.

I am based in Norway and have contacted DTA by email regarding the SRS and getting one over here...no response so far.

Does anyone here know who i can contact? From their website i can see that there is no Norwegian distributor so it may be easiest just to order directly from the USA.

Appreciate the advise.

Excellent forums...helped me make up my mind about the SRS!

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

Wow! thanks for the fast response!

I'm in contact with Ewen now and we are sorting it out...

Thank you. I was thinking the FDE looked the best but it is sometimes hard to tell from pictures.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

Friend of mine just recently used FDE CeraKote H on his DTA magazines, and C (air dry) on his Atlas bipod. These were some of the very first parts he's coated with CeraKote, but he's an old-time GunKote user. I hada laugh a bit when he told me about having to be so careful while handling parts with still wet CK on them - he's so used to warming up parts before using GunKote, and having them ready to handle while loading them in the oven almost immediately.

At any rate, the color/tint match was excellent, and he's very pleased with the way the Atlas turned out with air dry.

We both purchased SRS rifles recently - his with a 243 Win. bbl., and mine a 6.5x47. They're both very accurate - well within the 1/2 MOA DTA guarantees.

My only beef is that there's no easy way to use my AAC MITER mounts on factory DTA bbls., what with the fluting coming so far forward that you'd have to cut into it while turning the muzzle down for the MITER. I'd sure like to be able to mount & use my SCAR-H on my SRS. I've got a call in to a local SOT to find me an AAC 7.62 SDN-6 or SR-7, though it seems a little excessive to have to go through the hassle of finding & buying another can, then having to wait 6+months for the paperwork.

Whatever - as soon as the Bartlein 7mm blank I ordered from them contoured for the SRS gets here, I'll get a bbl. extension and get 'er chambered for a straight 284 Win. Won't be any problem using the MITER on this bbl., though I'm still concerned over being able to get magazines w/o the spacer to work with a 284. Anyone got any info on that issue?

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

Hi all I'm a NZ shooter ,expecting SRS to arrive in two weeks or so with 308/300winmag conversions . I have stock piled 225 gr Hornady BTHPs /208 gr amax (300) sierra 175smk / dyer 155hpbt.
Can anyone comment on loads and advise regarding these components will be using ADI Ar 2206H ,AR2208 AR2217, AR2225 powders these are equivalent to USA Varget I believe. Apologise in advance if inappropriately jumped on someones thread this is new to me. Cheers.

After a heap of testing I ended up settling with the following.

Lapua cases (better after first firing and neck sized only)
Fed GM210M primers
44.0gr AR2208
175gr Nosler Custom Competition projectiles (I had better results with the Noslers than the SMK's)
Loaded to 2.143 with comparator or 2.805 OAL without.
around 2685fps, (I need a new chrony)
Redding neck bushing die with 0.337 bushing with .245 of the neck sized, any more was a waste as it was sizing a portion of the neck that had no holding surface on the projectile and I felt I didn't need to work the extra section of the neck (hay it works)

This is all out of a DTA 26" 308 barrel, not the standard 22"

Will shoot 1/4 MOA group at 200 when I do my part

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

Thanks for the heads-up coldbore - I recall reading a post from someone way back in the early pages of this thread, and that saved me the time of looking it up. I've PM'd proplusion, and will make a decision on which 7mm to chamber for when I've got more info.

I've chambered three of my own bbls. for the 284 Win over the years, and have been very satisfied with the ctdg. - no, I'm not able to get 2950fps out of Berger or JLK 180s, and accuracy has been more consistent at 2830 with H4831 than at 2900 with RL17 (out of 30" bbls). But I'm still plenty satisfied with the 284, and would prefer to stick with it.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

I noted that the velocity I've gotten so far out of my SRS's 6.5x47 OEM bbl. is 50-60fps slower than what I've seen out of several other 6.5x47s that I've chambered. Accuracy is fine - no qualms with that at all. Just wondering if I got a particularly slow bbl., or have other members had similar experiences with the Lothar Walther bbls.?

Depends on bbl length and twist. I haven't had any luck so far with heavy bullets in the 16" 1:8 .308 -- see this separate topic.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

Very interested in how the 7 SAUM comes out. As soon as I have the money I'm wanting to get Mark @ SAC to spin me one. What are the specs on it; length/twist?

Yeah, my rifle is on order from Euro Optic with the DTA monopod option. Euro Optic has been waiting for a week for DTA to send them a monopod to install. No one has an ETA on when the DTA monopod will arrive.

I was thinking about having Euro Optic send me the rifle with out the DTA monopod or having Euro Optic install an accushot monopod.

Have them send you the rifle and then send the monopod when it arrives. It is something that you can easily install yourself.

Gotcha. Was under the impression that it was a finicky job. I'll have'em send it out on Monday. Thanks. Anxious to put some rounds down range with this thing.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

I just read all 40 pages I less than 24 hours, my head hurts! I am a happy owner of a gen 1 with 308, 300 wm, 338lm and 338 Norma. I thnk I might like the covert option, I am currently trying to sell the 338 barrels, can't afford em all!

I think I would love the monopod but don't want to send my rifle back and it's a lot of money. Has any one tried milling the receiver themselves or had it done locally?

I believe some of the Gen 1 receivers were set up to accept the monopod. If you take of your stock skins you will be able to see if your chassis is tapped for the monopod. If it is not, you can just send in the chassis to DTA to be tapped for the monopod. If it was me, I would send the chassis to DTA to be set up for the monopod.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

Hi

I have an SRS in 260 Rem and 338 LM. This may be a stupid question but can anyone tell me the minimum safe neck wall thickness for the .338 Lapua Magnum cases. Iv got some once fired and i want to clean them up but make them concentric. These cases are Lapua but it seems the necks are all over the place in thickness before i start.

Many thanks in advance

I wish I knew the answer...but check in the reloading section.

Tons of great information there.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

The more I look at them the more I think I need one. I can't decide whether to keep my 5r since I will end up with multiple barrels or just keep it and have another gun sitting in the safe. Did the DTA eliminate any rifles from your safe or did you keep what you had?

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

It helped me get rid of my .308, stopped me from buying a .338 in another platform, made it so I didn't have to buy a 6.5 calibered comp gun, and may get rid of my 22-250.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

Don't ask me I have a DTA with 6 barrels and 5 other bolt guns

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

I kind of figured it would be mixed reviews on whether or not to keep to other bolts guns but I had to ask.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

I still have other bolt rifles. But most of their roles cannot be filled by the SRS. The SRS is great at many things, but it is not a lightweight hunting rifle nor a .22 rimfire.

Re: Idea! Official DTA SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Th

Thanks green,

Part of the reason I ask is because, in February I attended a sniper course and used an Accushot monopod. I was taught to use it in the way John McQuay uses it in this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watchv=1iSKT...DvjVQa1PpcFPNjNHcQJL3bPPnYthu9Qlh-ZiwIxA6ePM=

I really liked the technique. It's fast and gives the monopod a bit more usability. The DTA monopod does not pivot, so the technique of gripping the monopod and moving your hand forward and back to adjust is not available.
