We would like to announce our recent addition to our vast product lines...Manfrotto Tripods. We would like to do our best to maintain inventory of their high quality heads/tripods in models that shooters and hunters actually want. We have started carrying a few Manfrotto items already, but would like our customers' input on what we should stock.

Here are the Manfrotto items that we have begun to carry, please tell us what you would like to see in our store and this will shape our next order, so that we have the most important items in stock at all times.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

The 190 carbon fiber four section tripod is pretty slick. A couple ball heads for the guys running Hog Saddles would be good to have as well ( I am running the 054 mag and it is very stout).

It looks like you already have the 055 Carbon fiber three section which is a very solid tripod.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

Which ball head would be your pick? Model #?

The 190 seems like a better hunting/packing tripod, is this your reasoning on that? After looking at the 190 4-section, this is definitely a great tripod when you need to pack it anywhere.

Thanks for that.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

The pistol grip or joystick heads are the most popular among shooters.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

I personally prefer the 322RC2. Have used it for years with spotters, rifles, LRFs, Cameras. It does it all and is lightweight and super fast to adjust with a solid lock up.

+1 on this...

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

I agree that among shooters, using a tripod for their spotting scope, the pistol grip heads are the most popular.

For taking pictures, I prefer a ballhead, but for a spotting scope, where I'll be getting down to the ground, the pistol grip works better.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

Yes, I like the portability of the 190 four section carbon fiber. As to ball heads I am using a 054 that is overkill. I think the 498 without quick attach plate would be a good one ( it is rated to 17 lbs.).

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

I have the 322RC2 and love it!

Kudos to EuroOptic!! This place is fast becoming a dumping ground for ALL my pesos. Great job Alex and Jason!

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

A kit option with either the 190 aluminum or 190 carbon plus the 322CR2 would be nice. I spoke to B&H Photo awhile back and the rep said they sell "a lot" of those kits.

Great to know that EuroOptic is now carrying Manfrotto products!

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

I have the 055XPPROB and midi ball head with quick connect system. Works great for the biggest of spotting scopes.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

As far as the tripod goes, I have the 055XDB, a bit on the heavy side but rock solid.

The top I have is the 322RC2 trigger. Awesome. Is a great tool for spotters. or even if you are into photography.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

Awesome tripods, we love ours over here. Very steady and never had one slip at all, rock solid product.

For those that don't know. When I first heard about these tripods it was from some semi-professional photographers that I know. I had cheap Bushnell tripod and thought it was just stupid to spend that kind of money on a Manfrotto.

Then I bought one. They are very, very, well built.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

Been using Manfrotto products for years with great success. Their 3265 ball head is incredible and cost effective.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

Quality units, I use the 057 (c3-g 26lbs), Neotec (17lbs) and the 028B (26lbs). There are very real differences between the tripods. The carbons are much lighter , but the most stable, by far, are the triman legs with captured center columns.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

922 heads are fantastic bang for the buck and performance. the 055CXPRO3/4 are go to tripods for my photography related stuff, and now, rifle-related stuff.

Is there a chance you could explain the weight rating for tripods? Thats one of the things that had me leery of the PRS's Slik tripods are the ratings are so much lower than that of the actual rifle.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

My take on the weight ratings - For a camera, when you take a photo you don't want it to move at all, and that's totally unsupported by your body. If a tripod is too light for a camera, it's going to flex more, and that flex will allow for oscillations that will take longer to damp out, making for blurry photos.

For shooting it doesn't matter nearly as much because your body is supporting the rifle as well and dampening any movement due to flex. So a tripod that is rated to hold a certain weight camera can probably hold much more than that in rifle with no problem. Obviously too much weight will just break it, but that's usually a long way off from a rifle's weight.

The flex may even make recoil management a bit easier, because you can load the tripod just like you load a bipod so that the feet don't skip and put you out of position. Good recoil management will work with a rigid tripod as well though.

I think PRS made a good decision to use the Sliks, they're light and cheap and for a cradle-type rest where you aren't going to be clamping down a rifle away from its balance point they're pretty perfect.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

I run the 055CXPRO4 with the 222 head and love it for what I do. Their window mounts are also top notch...

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

The weight ratings are for camera guys.
The ratings give some assurance that if you are below a specified weight your $10k worth of Nikon junk wont unexpectedly tip over and smash on the rocks...A bad thing that happens fairly often in the camera world.

For the shooter the higher the weight rating the stiffer and more robust the tripod. The further the legs are extended the more important this becomes.

I have several Manfrotto tripods and have no complaints.
Though it takes a few seconds to set up the Manfrotto center section offers a lot of low to the ground options and versatility that can not be had anywhere else.
I do not think there is a better all around setup for the shooter.

For a guy on a tight budget that doesn't mind some extra weight the Induro 313 (under $200.00) makes a robust as hell tripod.

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

I picked up a 4 section carbon and i reeeeeally like it. You dont even know its in your pack. Very very light and tons of height adjustment. The extra height is always there when ya need it

Re: MANFROTTO Tripods at EUROOPTIC - Give your input

Guys,

Thanks for the feedback, I am adding items to the inventory now...should have more stock based of your recommendations above in the next couple weeks.
