I need YOUR input!

Hey everybody, I'm interning at GAP this summer doing some marketing for them.

My main project is going to be making videos showcasing their different models of rifles, along with a few other videos.

As tactical oriented shooters, people like-minded to those on this forum is the target audience.

My question for you guys, what would YOU like to see as the common aspects in a series of videos focusing on the different models GAP produces?

I realize this is a pretty wide open question...the point is to gain some pretty undirected data to possibly open up some new ideas.

Let's see some videos of them at long range shoots and being used. I personally like seeing a group checking out a gun at a match and hearing what others think along with seeing them perform. Pretty and staged videos don't do it for me. It can be ugly as hell, but if it's a shooter and is being used by shooters near the top at matches then that is what would sell to me.

Maybe follow some of the Team GAP PRS shooters during different PRS matches show casing their rifles.

It would be cool to follow a rifle through a build...from the point of view of the rifle.

There is no doubt that to me, the most interesting threads here are the ones from Chad Dixon, watching how he takes a rifle from its base form to finished product.

Watching the guys over at Gap build rifles and some of their techniques and attention to detail would be great.

Like the other poster said, seeing some of their rifles in competition would be nice as well.

I would like to see footage of the two rifles they are currently building for me going into FedEx boxes for shipment (LOL).

Seriously, something that compares/contrasts the differences between gas/bolt gun builds would be interesting. I'd also like to see something about how the actual test firing process is carried out.

+1 for the build video and smiths then roll it to he rifle going to work I'm the comps. Craftsmanship, quality and att to detail is what sales rifles.

good high quality video of the rifle from top and bottom and each side so guys can see what they are buying in a video format. start with the crown, end at the butt pad. that way people can start/stop/pause full screen. 30 seconds or a minute should do since you can pause it. mouse over animation would be overkill. just tuck in one for each model somewhere. just a thought

Thanks for the input everyone.

I'll try to incorporate some of the ideas listed, if things aren't too busy hopefully I can tag along at matches at get some film of a very common real-world application of the guns.

Definitely be looking forward to some videos! I'll have them posted in the forum somewhere, perhaps Frank could help them be real easily accessible.

Until school is out I'll be messing around with Sony Vegas, haven't ever edited with it before but it should be a nice step up from stock video programs.

My builder just sent me a video of the build process leading up the test fire for a custom .338 lm. Talk about freaking awesome! It puts the period at the end of sentence in my opinion and really shows me how much time and meticulus work goes into these things. Of course the climax is the test fire! (though mine was done in the stock and not strapped to a bench...... a bit uncommon but he worked with what he had).

I like all of these ideas. I would like to see a rifle be spec-ed out by a tactical shooter, show pieces of the rifle being put together, accuracy tested, and then taken to a match and get abused. Show footage of the shooter shooting the rifle in tight confines (ie..mouse traps @ Rifles Only) and movers etc...You could then finish by showing where they finish within the comp. and have some sort of slogan ie...GA Precision...The Real Deal or something corny like that.

If you like this you can send get my specs and follow me around and watch me abuse the rifle and then finally see me finish around the top half or on a good match the top 1/3...LOL!

Make it a straight, blunt video (meaning not how awesome they are). I come from a marketing background and people spending 5000$ usually know you get what you pay for. I would say document the customer request...... Building process, and add a little "fun" at the shop with the staff. Then document the customer pickup and his results after he starts pulling triggers. Just my thoughts
