Is $1,850 for an AR-30 in 338 Lapua a good deal?

I have been wanting to get an AR-30 Lapua for a while now. My local gun shop has one for $1,850. I wanted to take a quick poll and see if yall would say "deal" or "no deal"

I checked on line and the only ar30 was 300 win mag and they wanted 1725.00. I would check around a little on line to see if any 338 ar's were out there. If you buy out of state you save the state tax.

I wish I could save on the sales tax. The FFLs here ding you for the sales tax when they receive the rifle.

Its a shame.

Where is HERE? My guess is a fellow Hide member can point you to an FFL that will not.

He's in WA state and ALL FFLs now must charge sales tax on incoming rifles whether new or used. State law, if the FFL doesn't charge it then he's (the FFL) still responsible for paying the state for it.

And that sales tax applies to not only the invoice cost but shipping costs as well. If there is no invoice they want the FFL to "Estimate" the value, lol... Welcome to Washington!

Here is Seattle WA. I need to look in to the transfer being looked at as a "gift". Perhaps that would make a difference.

Nope... The FFL is then supposed to estimate the value and still charge you. It blows...

There are still a few FFL's around who will give you a proper "estimate". You can also purchase a rifle on the other side of the Columbia as well for a $10 background check.

That's crazy about the sales tax, I could understand the tax on the transfer fee but not the rifle.
