Im looking at some inexpensive sights for my rock river lar 15. Ive looked into the primary arms micro dot and the different models vortex makes. Ive read some posts from a few years back on these models and was wondering if the people that have them still give them good marks? Also any other makes/models to consider other than the obvious aimpoint and eotechs.

For quality, you need either Eotech or Aimpoint. The rest fall off in quality pretty fast. If you get an older model Aimpoint, you can get one under $500.

Vortex Sparc. Good optic for the money and backed by a great company if you have issues with it.

I have an ACOG/RMR on one on my Daniel D's and an Aimpoint T1 on the other. But if you wanted something out of the more common standard units the Viper pst by vortex is priced nice of the more pricey Bushnell ET1624F Elite Tactical 1-6.5x24 .

I'd go with aimpoint for battery longevity. I do like the Eotec's dot better. But for a single battery lasting 7 years never being turned off is amazing. Plus these things are literally bomb proof is awesome. I picked up a 3 month old M4 for $425 shipped. And couldn't be happier. Also, give the T1 and H1 a gander.

Aimpoint bar none, I hate eotech after watching so many fail. I run comp4 or t1's. If those are too pricey I agree with the Sparc, a few friends bought them and like em. Vortex support is pretty unbeatable

I run M4 Aimpoints my ARs. I just recently bought an Aimpoint PRO which I am very anxious to try out on an AR. I don't think the M4 would qualify an "inexpensive" but at about $400 the PRO would be an optic to consider.

I have a Primary Arms micro red dot and it was great. Then I made the mistake of getting an Aimpoint T1. The T1 is so much clearer, I hate going back to the PA micro. I got my T1 brand new with the Aimpoint QD riser mount for $475 so it was a decent deal. Plus it weighs nothing and I never turn it off.

I have had a couple of the primary arm red dot sights for 3-4 yrs and have not had any issues with them. For the price I think they are really nice. Have one on an AR15 that has had around 1500-2000 rounds through it and still holds zero well.

I like the dot better on the EoTech and in most case do not need a riser to mount it. I also like the Aimpoint. I have one on my Socom II which doesn't require a riser. Those are the only 2 brands I would go with.

I like the reticles on my EOTech 512 and EXPS2. I like the battery life on the Aimpoints. The price on the Aimpoint PRO is hard to beat.

i like aimpoint and eotech, but the vortex sparc is decent and has a lifetime warranty if you don't want to get into the high price point optics.

I second that, that little Trs 25 is awesome for the price and it is better then the vortex sparc.
And yes I have owned many aimpoints and Eotechs, but that little Trs is hard to beat for the price.
My main sight is an Eotech 552, my Trs is a backup.

I bought my Eotech EXPS2 end of 2009 and works perfect and still has original battery. I shoot at least 2 3-gun matches a month and it has never failed.

I currently have an Eotech and like how fast it is to aquire your target. I am looking at buying a LWRC SPR and using a T1 with a LaRue mount for a light weight rig.
