Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

Rifle will be here in a few days, and more pics will surely follow, but this stuff just came in the mail today and I'm all giddy, so I had to make a thread and show off a little.

Rifle will be built at Surgeon with the 591 in .308, Krieger threaded and fluted 1-10 twist barrel, a Woodland A5 adjustable stock, and a jewel trigger.

The things that came in today are the scope, rings, and some ammo.

Scope: 5-25 S&B CCW mil/mil FF

(and yes, I know I need to dust)

And the reticle is the H2CMR:

It pretty hard to capture the quality of the image in a picture, but that's just about as good as I can do. It's actually much brighter and crisper in person.

Here's it lit. It's also much brighter in person:

Some Southwest 175's.

And Badger 34mm rings:

And that's it so far. More pics when the rifle comes in later this week.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

You will enjoy the Surgeon. Mine has been great and the more I use it the slicker it gets.

Recently shot a small comp with it and we were around an area of sand and fine ground pine dirt. We ran relays for one event. We were kicking dirt and sand all over each others rifles running back and forth. The inside of my bolt and action was gunked up bad, but it ran without a single hiccup the rest of the match.

I really love my Surgeon

You have great taste in rifles and optics.

The S&B's magnification, easy eye relief, and clarity
is in a class apart.

Sprite Grenade.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

And here she is. I'll post some groups when I get out to the range. And looks like I've misplaced my other bipod, so I guess I gotta go back to the shop and maybe scoop another one.

Looks like I might have to take off the BC cuz I got some touchage going on here. I hear that's no good.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

About time you came back, my girls tits were hurting for holding them so long.

Nice looking setup, love the front bi-pod, I bet that holds at least 8 cold rootbeers..

Nonsense, it's just a BC cap. Sandpaper the bottom of the cap until you can get some clearance. The cap isn't but $10 or so. I've had to do it before with a couple scopes. Oh yeah, that's a beautiful rifle.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

Yea I'll just sand er down a little.

On a side note, I like that they sent me a hard case with it, but it's kinda funny that it literally just barely fits the gun WITHOUT the scope on it, lol. Oh well. It fit's my dad's gun wit his scope on it, so I just gave it to him. He was gonna get one, and I was planning on having to get one too, so it works out both ways. Just thought it was a little strange.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

Was it just a cheap plastic case? I know GAP sends their new build in cheap plastic cases just so it won't get damaged in the mail. It's not really intended to keep it as the rifle barely fits in it as well. If yours is all cut out and looks like it's intended for further use, then that is really weird hah

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

A damn fine looking rifle!!!!! Congrats!!

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

Great looking rifle. How are you liking that reticle so far?

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

I like it a lot. I'll give you an update once I get to the range.

I took the liberty of pointing out some other maybe not so obvious tacticool accessories I'm sporting.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

Great looking stick and bad ass scope

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

Dudes, check out this thread job. At first glance I thought they forgot to thread it, but holy crap look how prefect it matches up to the barrel. You can hardly see the line, and I'm telling you, it's even more invisible in person.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

Looks great man! We're gonna have to get together and shoot when I visit the girl's family in Martinsburg.

Nice tactical PS3 too!

Sounds like a nice excuse to hit the range.

BTW, there's a couple tactical xboxs right next to that. I say a couple because I've gone through like 5 so far.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

Stephen does all the machining on the rifles at Surgeon. That is a really sweet rifle. I've shot a ton of 175 GMM through one just like it and it was a hammer.

I call BS, that looks like regular dust to me. Now my daughter has some fairy dust and that shite is tactical.

Seriously though nice rifle.

Well someone needs to tell Stephen he's awesome.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

Very nice rifle, waiting on one from them in a Creedmoor almost identical. What height are the rings?

1.0" I believe.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

If your still on the market for a bipod check out atlas if you haven't already, they're pricey but well worth it. I promise you won't be disappointed, a stick that nice deserves the best, if you can swing it.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

Simply beautiful... Looks awesome man! Hey, what bolt knob is that?
I like the tactical dust as well! I have lots of that as well!

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

So, Surgeon built the whole rifle? What was the turn around time? Rifle looks really nice!!!!

Thank you. And yea, Surgeon built the whole thing. I guess it was about a month, maybe a couple days shy. Didn't really keep track, but they said they could get it to me in 2 weeks, but they had trouble with the one batch of bottom metal that they had to redo. Funny though, I asked them if they could put an EFR on so as to future proof it in case I ever get rich enough to afford night vision, but he said the time would go from 2 weeks up to 6-8 months just to add the EFR, lol. I said, no thanks.

Negative. Just found my bipod btw. I have a torque wrench coming from midway that is back ordered till 5/8, so I can't get a nice even torque on anything till then. However, I think I'm just gonna ballpark it just so I can get to the range, and then when the wrench comes I'll just redo it.

Also, holy mother of balls I got this trigger set light as shit. I might have to go a little righty tighty on it, because as it stands now I'm afraid of accidentally shooting someone by blowing on the trigger, but it's gotta be in ounces and it's sweet as shit. Prolly goona tweak it up to around to what feels like 1.5 pounds and see how that works.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

I've set my rifle trigger at 1.5lbs and like it a lot.

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

lucky you i still got at least 3 weeks before they even start my 300wm build
frown.gif

i cant wait but it will be worth every second

and as another poster mentioned the atlas bipod... it is a quality made piece for sure

if you interested im pretty sure the atlas site is only supply to leo/military

but US tactical has them in stock

Re: Surgeon build coming together nicely so far...

lol..I guess it all depends on the availability of products. I called McMillan earlier and the wait time is 3-4 months for a stock. Lets see some range reports as soon as you get that torque wrench!!!

How and the hell have you not shot it yet? I got my 6.5CM from them a couple weeks ago and went straight to the range. I already have about 600 rounds through it. Surgeon makes one heck of a rifle.

I have absolutely no clue. I hate going to the range by myself and it's been hard trying to get someone to go with me because I just moved away from my home town and I don't really know a whole bunch of people here. On top of that I've had so many damn surgeries in the past year it seems like I'm in the hospital more then I'm not, and on top of everything else I've been golfing a metric fuck-ton so that's been taking up all my other time, lol. I know though, spend 8 and a half grand on a rifle and you get it and don't shoot it for like 3 months. Sounds crazy but it happened, lol.

Not exactly my proudest moment.

Seriously nice rifle - congrats. Range Report!
