I recently completed a varmint barreled ar in .223 wylde. I built the Rock River lower using Rock River internals including the 2 stage trigger. I ordered a 20 inch varmint upper from WOA. I wanted a tack driver. With handloads what 5 shot group sizes should be expected at 300 yards?

My 18" SPR is a 1/2-3/4 Moa gun all day which is what I wanted out of it. Gap 10's and Larue obr's have been known to shoot sub 1/2 Moa. I would be very happy I you were shooting around .5-.6Moa

At 300y? On a calm day if it printed 2"-3" groups I would consider an AR to be exceptionally accurate.

I have never put my rock river on paper that far, but at a 100 it will shoot 1/2 to 3/4 moa pretty easy.

Here was my 16" Noveske .223 rogue hunter at 400 yards with 4-7 mph variable wind. First time I took it past 400, my first time with any of my weapon past 250 (just hunting before). I've shot a couple times with my buddies rifles at 500-750. This was with black hills .223 77 smk.

I was shooting 2 inches at 300 the other night. I guess thats about as good as it will get then?

Re: What to expect out of an AR?

The 10-X ring of the NRA HP Prone Rapid Fire target is 7 inches or 2.33 MOA. I have more then once cleaned these targets in prone rapid fire (thats using the sling position, no support), 10 shot s in 70 second with a mag. change.

I've done it with my White Oak Service rifle and Heavy Match M1A, With iron sights.

The White Oak can do it, I assume if you use a bench and scope, you should be able to cut that in half.

I shot this target setting rapid, (8 rounds) using Speer 64 gn Gold Dot for LE) on the 600 yard reduced to 100 yards target, to test the round fo ran up coming LE sniper school I'm teaching. If you look at the target you'll see that a 1 in. group. I have no doubt I could cut that down by using match ammo. Again I was using the White Oak Service Rifle with iron sights.

I have not doubt the WOA upper will out shoot me. I think if the shooter is able, the WOA can get below one inch or 1/3 MOA at 300. It's up to the shooter.
